Hornets Kon Knueppel First Rookie This Season to Reach 1,000 PTS-4th Fastest Since 2020
HE IS SHOWING KONSISTENCY! There are a lot of exciting rookies this season. However, Charlotte’s newest star can’t seem to stop making history. His latest achievement? The Hornets Kon Knueppel (53 games) is the first rookie this season to reach 1,000 PTS! He is the 4th fastest player to reach 1,000 career PTS since 2020.
So then, who has hit 1K points faster since 2020? According to the history books:
Zion Williamson: 44 games
Victor Wembanyama: 49 games
Paolo Banchero: 51 games
Now if you are wondering what player is the fastest to 1,000 points in NBA history. Just take a wild guess. We bet you already know.
Seriously, throw the first name that comes to mind out there. Did you guess Wilt? Yes, Wilt Chamberlain is indeed the fastest player in NBA history to reach 1,000 points, achieving this milestone in just 27 games during his rookie season (1959-60).
However getting back to Kon, this dynamic player has just been sensational. Charlotte’s forward won the Kia NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award for the third-straight month. Knueppel averaged 17.8 PTS, 5.9 REB and 3.6 AST per game in January, leading all rookies in total points (302), FGM (105), 3PM (45) and FTM (47).
He is a player that literally has breathed new life into the Hornets. And a player that just keeps making a strong statement on the court as a rookie. For instance, just back in December (2025) Knueppel became the fastest player to reach 100 career 3PM in NBA history, breaking the previous record by 12 games! According to Real App, Kon Knueppel now has the most games by a rookie in NBA history with 20+ PTS on 75%+ TS. He’s just been money on the court.
Furthermore, Kon Knueppel has made 166 threes through his first 50 career games—the most in NBA history.
1. Kon Knueppel – 166 (2025-26)
2. Duncan Robinson – 123 (2018-20)
3. Luka Doncic – 120 (2018-19)
4. Keegan Murray – 120 (2022-23)
5. Brandon Miller – 117 (2023-24)

A name that always comes up when discussing Kon, is the King of the Three, Steph Curry. How does Knueppel’s 166 record compare to Golden State’s superstar? Stephen Curry needed 80 games to hit 166 rookie 3s. Kon Knueppel hit this same mark in 50.
So then, it’s nice to see some new blood making waves. And basketball fans will get to see plenty of Knueppel’s talent on display during the 2026 NBA All-Star events. Kon will participate in the Shooting Stars competition at NBA All-Star Weekend. He will be on Team Cameron with the Atlanta Hawks’ Jalen Johnson and former Charlotte Bobcats player Corey Maggette. Additionally, Knueppel will also take part in the 3-point contest. We can’t wait.
