Historic Seven-Team NBA trade Sends Kevin Durant to Rockets
A historic seven-team NBA trade? If you thought Luka to the Lakers was wild, get ready to clutch pearls and your team’s jersey. Since the league is now experiencing and witnessing an event and outcome that is a first for the history books. Yes, for the very first time ever we a seven team trade involving: the Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves the Phoenix Suns.
As you may recall, as soon as allowed KD was snatched up expeditiously. Going from the Suns to the Rockets. But now there is a twist. Apparently, the Rockets, Suns and other organizations have been looking to expand the Kevin Durant deal into an unprecedented, league-record, seven-team mega-deal. And they have just ironed out the formula to get it accomplished.
Furthermore, the Suns, Houston and other NBA franchises have had plenty of time to think things over and through. Since no deal would be complete until July 6. So then, if other interested groups/executives wanted in on the party; there has been plenty of opportunities to crash. And on Sunday they got everything done and squared away.

Of course, the main component of this 7-team transaction was KD to Houston. However, sports journalist, Tim Bontemps also explains,
“A series of moves going back to Kevin Durant’s trade to the Houston Rockets before the draft ultimately became the first seven-team trade in NBA history, a giant, complex transaction when the league’s annual moratorium on business officially concluded Sunday.
All told, the deal involved the Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolvesand Phoenix Suns. Six players (Durant, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Clint Capela, David Roddyand Daeqwon Plowden), one first-round draft pick (the No. 10 selection last month, used by Phoenix via Houston as part of the Durant deal to select center Khaman Maluach) and 12 second-round picks were also moved. In addition, Houston made a second-round pick swap with the Hawks and sent them cash considerations.”
ESPN’s Shams Charania broke it down as follows:
PHX: Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, Koby Brea,
Daeqwon Plowden, 2nd
HOU: Kevin Durant, Clint Capela
BKN: 2 2nds
GSW: Alex Toohey, Jahmai Mashack
ATL: 2nd swap, David Roddy, cash
LAL: Adou Thiero
MIN: Rocco Zikarsky, 2 2nds, cash
So then, all these teams got a little something, something. There’s still more action to go down soon. But, after a 7 team extravaganza, most likely will be be a bit less complex.
