Has a Rookie QB Won a Super Bowl-Commanders Jayden Daniels Could Do Funniest and Greatest Thing

Plenty of great men have won Super Bowls. Jonny Unitas, Joe Montana, John Elway, Tom Brady, Terry Bradshaw, Patrick Mahomes, The Mannings, Russell Wilson and Troy Aikman. However, not one of these men, these quarterbacks, accomplished this great feat as a rookie. If you Google “has a rookie QB won a Super Bowl;” you will find this subject gets thousands of searches around this time of year. So since it is on the minds of football enthusiasts let’s discuss it.

The answer is a big fat no. There have been solid quarterback rookies that got to the playoffs. However, they all were eliminated before they could reach the Big Show.

As SN accurately pointed out last year, “The short answer is, no, no rookie quarterback has won, or even started, a Super Bowl. Myriad factors contribute to this. Rookie quarterbacks getting playing time used to be rare, and in the modern game, teams tend to try to find their quarterbacks first.

Furthermore, if we look at NFL history some QBs barely missed. A number of guys actually made it close, but still no cigar. Guys like Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, and Mark Sanchez; however, their quests for the trophy ended at the AFC and NFC Championship Games.

But this postseason we have a special treat. We got a rookie in the mix that made it past the wild card round! He’s two games away from making history. Literally, all he has to do is just PLAY in a Super Bowl, and he has done something none of his peers have achieved.

Has a Rookie QB Won a Super Bowl-Commanders Jayden Daniels Could Do Funniest and Greatest Thing

Yes, the Commanders’ Jayden Daniels has the opportunity to be the first. But it will not be easy… at all. His first test will be against a hot Detroit Lions team. Washington’s defense will have to hold the juggernaut offense of the Lions. A very tall task.

If Daniels can outlast Detroit and slays the Lion; he will meet up with the final NFC boss. He will have to win the championship round; which will either be against the Los Angeles Rams or the Philadelphia Eagles. Both of these franchises have QBs that have played already in the Super Bowl and Matthew Stafford won a chip. So once again, a tough matchup.

However, if Jayden survives he will go down as one of the greatest rookie quarterbacks ever. He’s already getting plenty of Offensive Rookie of the Year attention anyway. But if any rookie QB has a chance to make Super Bowl history it is Daniels. As we have seen all season long, he puts the team on his back and plays with bloody cheeks without stitches. Hardcore.

But we digress. In order to see if Jayden can do the “impossible” tune into Commanders/Lions this Saturday. The Detroit Lions will host the Washington Commanders at Ford Field.
