Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants Debut
We’re getting closer to the start of the 2024 NFL regular season. And to give us sportsfeens a foregleam, HBO is dropping a new season of its own. Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants is set to debut tonight, July 2 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. It feels right for the Giants to be the featured team as they prepare for their 100th season of football. The five-part series will be available to stream on Max with new episodes debuting subsequent Tuesdays through July 30. This will be the Giants’ second appearance on the show.
The show is designed to take viewers inside the New York Giants organization. A trailer gives us a sneak peek of the opening episode which you can view here. Follow along as the front office heads down to Mobile, Alabama, for the 2024 Senior Bowl. It’s an opportunity for general managers to start laying the groundwork for the upcoming free agency period. Camera crews chronicle the team’s every move as general manager Joe Schoen and the front office navigate the critical offseason period — from the NFL Scouting Combine and free agency to the NFL Draft and team minicamps.
Hard Knocks first premiered in 2021 and has won 18 Sports Emmy® Awards. The longtime series is produced by the legendary team at NFL Films, a division of NFL Media owned and operated by the National Football League. Skydance Sports will be co-producing this all-new iteration with Liev Schreiber narrating. HBO describes the show as “the first sports-based reality series” in television history. Consequently viewers get to see the personal and professional lives of players, coaches, and staff.

The five episodes will highlight the Giants’ moves from January to July of the offseason. So there should be plenty of material for fans to discuss and debate. And the Giants’ open practice schedule will begin on July 24. There will be 11 practices free and open to the public at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Whether or not any training camp practices will be included in the series is not known. Therefore, we’ll all have to tune in and see what happens.
Of course Hard Knocks doesn’t provide the same excitement as watching a regular season game. However, it does get us hyped up and ready to go for the new season. After the long offseason, it’s at least something to look forward to in the meantime, right?
