Grizzlies And Magic To Kick Off Three-Year Slate Of NBA Games To Be Played In Europe
The league is no stranger to playing games on foreign soil. In fact, they worked hard to grow a global audience of basketball fans. So the announcement made today is right in line with their previous endeavors. The Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic are set to kick off a three-year slate of NBA games to be played in Europe. Today the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic will play regular-season games in Berlin on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, and in London on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026.
The NBA Berlin and London Games 2026 mark the Grizzlies’ first regular season contests to be played outside of North America. And the sixth and seventh games Memphis has played outside of the United States and Canada. The team previously competed in preseason matchups in France (2003), Puerto Rico (2005) and Spain (2007). They will feature two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant, two-time NBA All-Star and 2022-23 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. And two-time NBA champion Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The Magic will be playing their fourth and fifth games in Europe. First in Berlin, third in London 1993 and 2016 and 14th and 15th games outside of the U.S. and Canada. They will feature 2024 NBA All-Star Paolo Banchero, German brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner. Second-year German forward Tristan da Silva and 2023-24 Kia All-Defensive Second Team member Jalen Suggs.
The NBA will host SIX regular-season games in Europe over the next three years. With games to come in Berlin and London (2026), Manchester and Paris (2027) and Berlin and Paris (2028). The dates and participating teams for the games in 2027 and 2028 will be announced prior to the 2026-27 and 2027-28 NBA seasons, respectively.

Jason Wexler, President of the Memphis Grizzlies commented on the international contests saying:
“We appreciate the opportunity to represent the NBA and to represent the city of Memphis and state of Tennessee on an international stage in Berlin and London. This is a first for our franchise, and we are excited for fans worldwide to see the talents of the Memphis Grizzlies on full display.”
Echoing Wexler’s sentiment, Charlie Freeman, Orlando Magic President of Business Operations, stated:
“Having proudly represented the NBA and the City of Orlando in Brazil, China, England, Japan and Mexico through The NBA Global Games, we are always honored to showcase our team on the world stage. These upcoming games mark our 14th and 15th international appearances, and we are continually inspired by the passion and enthusiasm of fans across the globe. We are especially excited to bring the Orlando Magic to Berlin and London, and we look forward to connecting with both new and familiar fans and partners alike.”
But they aren’t the only ones proud to represent the league and their teams.
NBA Looks To Expand Their Global Reach In Basketball
Expressing their excitement to participate in the European games, German brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner said:
“To have the Orlando Magic and the NBA play a regular-season game in our hometown of Berlin means everything to us. Growing up here, we dreamed of moments like this. It’s a huge honor to represent Berlin and Germany and show how much the city and country love basketball. We hope we can inspire kids the way we were inspired watching games from afar.”
The NBA boasts plenty of foreign born players who can now look forward to potentially playing a game in their home country. And of course the European fans will have a chance to root for their fellow countrymen at home. So for the next three years, good times are ahead for every basketball fan in the world.
