Green Bay Packers Sliced Up the Dallas Cowboys
It has been fun to watch Jordan Love mature as a quarterback. And his maturity was on full display as the Green Bay Packers sliced up the Dallas Cowboys. It was all the more shocking because Dallas had been unbeatable at home all season long. Going into big D and getting the W was no small feat for Green Bay.
The tone was set when the Packers scored a touchdown on the the opening possession of the game. In the first half the Dallas defense didn’t make many plays. They gave Jordan Love plenty of time to throw the ball. Even when they tried to bring pressure he was 3 for 3 on his passes. And the run game also had success picking up nice gains. Aaron Jones had two rushing touchdowns by halftime.
Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb weren’t on the same page only connecting on 2 of 7 passes. On Dallas’ second possession Prescott was intercepted. Green Bay turned that into a touchdown. Dallas punted again and Green Bay scored two more touchdowns one of which was a 64 yard pick-six by Darnell Savage.
However, on the last possession of the 2nd quarter Dallas put together a good drive. Using a nice mix of the pass and run they went 84 yards for a touchdown. They opened the third quarter with another nice drive that ended with a 34 yard field goal. But Dallas’ defense couldn’t match their offensive output. They allowed Green Bay to quickly answer with another touchdown courtesy of Aaron Jones, his third of the game.
The ease with which Green Bay could score was incredible to watch. If Jones wasn’t picking up chunk yardage running then the wide open receivers were catching bombs downfield. There were communication issues with the Dallas defense because far too often Green Bay receivers were uncovered.
Green Bay Packers Sliced Up the Dallas Cowboys
Green Bay took their foot off the pedal and let Dallas score too many garbage time points. But in the end Green Bay just dominated on both sides of the ball. Everything went their way. Jordan Love finished with a perfect passer rating and Aaron Jones was practically unstoppable. Although they are a young team, the average age is 25, they played like veterans. Their coach, Matt LeFleur, had them ready for this game.
The Cowboys had a great season finishing as the #2 seed in the NFC. But this will likely be a long off-season as they contemplate what went wrong in this playoff game. Congratulations to Green Bay, looking forward to watching them next week.
