Golden State Head Coach Steve Kerr Announced Steph Curry Will Miss 2026 NBA All Star Game
Man… is there any reason to even watch now? We’re kidding. Of course, there is plenty of star power to soon enjoy at the ASG. However, number 30 will be especially missed. On Monday, Golden State head coach Steve Kerr announced that Steph Curry will miss the 2026 NBA All Star Game.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026 in Los Angeles, California at the Intuit Dome, the home of the LA Clippers. This marks the 75th anniversary of the event and the seventh time Los Angeles has hosted, featuring events like the Celebrity Game, Dunk Contest, and the main All-Star Game itself.
For the first time, the 2026 edition will feature the highly anticipated U.S. vs. World format. However, it is not going to be straight up USA players versus international players. There’s going to be three teams. The 2026 NBA All-Star Game introduces a new U.S. vs. World format, featuring two American teams (USA Stars, USA Stripes) and one international team (World) in a round-robin tournament to determine the finalists for a championship game. This mini-tournament involves four 12-minute games, aiming for a more competitive experience than traditional All-Star games.
The two U.S. teams are USA Stars and USA Stripes. The U.S. All-Stars were assigned to teams based on age, with the younger group placed on USA Stars and the older group placed on USA Stripes. Team World is composed of international players.

Nevertheless, after what Steph Curry did at the 2024 Paris Olympics, many basketball fans were looking forward to seeing the Warriors star playing against the best global competition again. Curry was named an All-Star for the 12th time in his career amid another strong season for the Warriors. However, Steve Kerr shut down such basketball dreams.
Kerr told reporters that Curry would be out, missing upcoming games, including the 2026 NBA All-Star Game. Kerr reveals,
“[Steph] will not play against San Antonio, he will not play in the All-Star Game.
He’s doing well. That’s the hope. It’s really kind of a day to day thing, so it’s hard to predict for sure whether he’ll be playing that first game after the break, but that’s definitely the hope. The idea is if he can get through everything this week that puts him on pace to be playing then.”
Well, it’s nice to hear that Curry is progressing along well. No doubt getting ready for a big second half push. But we will miss his signature threes and possible half court shot during this year’s All Star Game.
