It seems like only yesterday 32 teams were duking it out in order to become the big dogs, the coveted Stanley Cup champs. Yet, here we are beginning a brand new season, and year of nonstop exhilarating NHL action. Moreover, to kick things off the 2023 defending champions, the Las Vegas Golden Knights raise Stanley Cup banner at T-Mobile Arena in full celebration mode AND win their season opener at the same time! Absolute Legends.
Vegas NHL fans got a real treat getting to watch their team officially raise their Stanley Cup championship banner into the rafters; before their Tuesday night season opener matchup against the Seattle Kraken. A sobering sports tradition that athletes and fandoms seem to enjoy all the same. However, the Golden Knights are not allowing this moment, although great, to distract themselves from having the right mindset.
Several Knights spoke about the banner raising. How they feel about it and the goal of the team this season. For instance, Adin Hill states, “It was cool seeing the banner go up. I haven’t seen a banner with that much detail before.”
Moreover, Vegas GK’s Forward, William Karlsson too has some thoughts. He adds on to Hill’s enthusiasm about the banner raising saying, “It was an emotional one for sure. It was a happy moment. It was goosebumps.”
However, Mark Stone lets us all know that the Vegas franchise still means business. He reveals,
“It’s a memory now, a great memory. Some of the funnest hockey we will ever play. It gives us a sense of urgency, we want to get back there you know?
We know you’re not just going to give it to us. But got to play each of these games to give yourself an opportunity to compete for the Stanley Cup and it started tonight. So we wanted to get off on the right track and I thought we were able to do so.”

Loving the work ethic. Furthermore, no doubt Vegas is going to try their best this season to keep the titles coming. So then, it will be fun to watch them battle it out.
However, they are already off to a very good start. Winning their season opener 4-1; with 28 shots and 20 hits. Yet, besides being champions there’s still more hockey history being made.
The Las Vegas Golden Knights have won five straight season opener games. This is the longest active run in the NHL. Amazing… especially when you take into consideration that the Knights are barely six years old. The new kids on the block are definitely getting the job done!
