FOX Has Signed Drew Brees to a Multi-Year Deal as a Full-Time NFL Game Analyst
Back in early October, former NFL quarterback and sports analyst Mark Sanchez found himself in hot water. Sanchez was involved in a physical altercation with a truck driver in Indianapolis, resulting in both men being hospitalized. The incident left Sanchez stabbed while facing a felony battery charge, and the truck driver, Perry Tole, filing a lawsuit against Sanchez. Authorities allege Sanchez initiated the confrontation, which began over a parking space. Due this event FOX Sports has decided to move away from Mark; on Wednesday it was confirmed that FOX has signed Drew Brees to a multi-year deal as a full-time NFL game analyst.
Andrew Marchand of The Athletic/ New York Times first reported on this hiring of Brees. Marchand reveals,
“NEWS: Hall of Famer Drew Brees is joining Fox Sports to become a full-time NFL game analyst, The Athletic has learned. Fox NFL Sunday’s Big 3 game analyst are now Tom Brady, Greg Olsen and Brees.
Now, Greg Olsen is joined by J.J. Watt and Drew Brees for the race for next No. 1 job. Travis Kelce out there with potential interest. Sean McVay or Mike Tomlin if they were to leave coaching. Will be interesting.
The Brees move signals the likely end of the embattled Mark Sanchez’ time at Fox. A lot of details in the story, including that Brees will work with Adam Amin, who was the partner of Mark Sanchez.”
FOX Has Signed Drew Brees to a Multi-Year Deal as a Full-Time NFL Game Analyst
Over the years, Drew Brees has been gaining experience in sports television. And no doubt is probably excited to get another opportunity at game calling. Yahoo Sports, Andy Backstrom detailed Brees résumé mentioning,
“Drew Brees has been waiting for another shot to call games since his failed stint as a game analyst for NBC his first year out of the NFL. While the terms of Brees’ deal aren’t currently known, he’s set to call games through at least next season.
Brees is hoping for similar success during his second full-time job in the booth. While at NBC during the 2021 season, he served as an analyst for Notre Dame games with Mike Tirico. He also had a studio role most Sundays for ‘Football Night in America.’
Brees and NBC parted ways after just one season. In the years since, Brees has made appearances on studio shows for Fox and ESPN, the latter of which he agreed with earlier this fall to become a weekly contributor on the popular debate show ‘First Take.’ He’s also slated to join Netflix’s NFL Christmas Day broadcast as a game analyst this year.”
So Brees is keeping very busy. And working to solidify a concrete role for himself in television. This new deal with FOX may help Drew continue building his presence in the sports broadcasting realm.
