Former Raiders DJ Hayden Dies in Car Crash- Zach McMillian and 6 Killed in Total
Once a Raider, always a Raider. It is with very heavy hearts that we report that former Raiders DJ Hayden dies in car crash early Saturday morning on November 11, 2023. The former NFL cornerback was just 33 years old.
DJ Hayden is a player whose silver and black roots go back to 2013. In that year, he is apart of the draft. A first round pick, the 12th overall. Hayden then spends four years with the Raiders before also becoming a player for Jacksonville, Detroit and Washington’s rosters.
In nine years of play, Hayden racks up 328 tackles. With also 46 passes defensed, along with fumble recoveries, interceptions and sacks. DJ always gives his best, every single game. Making his loss even tougher to process.
Dov Kleiman, a writer for popular lifestyle and sports site, BroBible; provides a brief report. Kleiman states,
“NFL cornerback and Raiders 1st round pick, CB D.J. Hayden killed in collision near downtown Houston, per Joseph Duarte. Hayden was among six people killed when a car sped through a red light on Fannin Street near the Gulf Freeway around 2 a.m., according to a Houston Police Department report.

So far, information concerning the accident is scarce. Also, DJ Hayden is not the only player to be among the victims. There is a report detailing some of the aspects of this unfortunate incident.
According to a Houston Police Department report obtained by Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle, Hayden is among six people killed. All six sadly pass in a collision when a car sped through a red light near a freeway around 2 a.m. local time.
The Houston Chronicle’s Duarte notes that four people are pronounced dead at the scene. These individuals include former University of Houston cornerback Zach McMillian.
Hayden and McMillian were teammates on the Cougars for two seasons in 2011 and 2012. They were named to the program’s all-decade team for the 2010s. Hayden was also a two-time All-Conference-USA selection in his two college seasons. Now, both players are gone way too soon.
