Florida Panthers Eliminate Toronto Maple Leafs and Advance to Eastern Conference Finals

Brad Marchand said it best during his postgame interview, the Panthers had the “beLEAF” to win. However, truth be told, it was a hard fought series for both Toronto as well as Florida. Having to go all the way to game seven in order to decide a victor. However, when the battle sounds quieted, and the sticks became still, one team remained as the one that would continue on for the Cup. On Sunday, the Florida Panthers eliminated the Toronto Maple Leafs and advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Nevertheless, speaking of Marchand, the Panthers had a wild card to play. Veteran experience and leadership. Brad is no stranger to Game 7’s, being an athlete that’s played now in over a dozen of them.

The National Hockey League highlighted Marchand’s experience before Game 7 commenced. The NHL explained, “Brad Marchand will be the NHL’s fifth player with 13 career Game 7 appearances, following former teammates Patrice Berderon (14) and Zdeno Chara (14) as well as Patrick Roy (13) and Scott Stevens (13). Brad Marchand of the Florida Panthers is 7-5 through 12 career Game 7 appearances, including a 4-0 record versus Toronto.”

Well, Brad Marchand proved to be his usual self in this win or go home type of game situation; and absolutely worth the trade. Marchand finished with a goal and two assists for the Panthers in Game 7 to eliminate the Maple Leafs. And now he also improves his personal record to 5-0 against Toronto in Game 7’s. As history continues to show, Brad is some sort of kryptonite for the Leafs.

But overall the Panthers collectively took a bite out of Toronto. Coming alive in the second period, scoring a wild three goals in seven minutes. And from there the pure domination would only continue. In the end they would win 6-1 and add an entry to some team history in the process.

Florida Panthers Public Relations announced, “Forward Eetu Luostarinen tallied three points (1-2-3) tonight at TOR, amassing a league-leading 11 playoff road points (3-8-11) through seven road games played. His 10 assists in series clinching games with FLA are tied with Anton Lundell for most in franchise history.”

Nice. So then, with their 6-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs; the Florida Panthers have advanced to the Eastern Conference Final for the third consecutive season and fourth time in franchise history. They will now face off against the Carolina Hurricanes in a rematch of the 2023 Eastern Conference Final.
