Exciting Finish As Texans Punched Their Ticket To the Playoffs
This was a do or die game. But it was an exciting finish as the Texans punched their ticket to the playoffs. Whoever lost the match up would be eliminated from the playoffs. But the winner would clinch a playoff spot and possibly win the AFC South division.
The Colts opened the game with a nice drive that culminated in a 38 yard field goal. C. J. Stroud said, “That’s cool but look what I can do.” He proceeded to hit Nico Collins for a 75 yard touchdown bomb. With one play and 9 seconds the Texans took the lead 7-3.
On the Texans second possession they picked up a first down but couldn’t pick up a second one. Apparently, the Colts defense had been inspired by the Texans touchdown score and said not again. But for the most part the action slowed down on both sides. Neither team could move the football much on the ground or in the air.
Things picked up again with less than three minutes to go in the second quarter. Houston’s run game got going and set up the 29 yard pass from Stroud to Collins. With a couple more runs and a 1 yard pass to the wide open Andrew Beck in the back of the end zone put another touchdown on the scoreboard. However, the Colts quickly responded with a 52 yard field goal.
It looked like the second half was going to start the same way as the first half for the Texans. Stroud and Collins had connected on a another big pass play. But a penalty and a sack forced them to punt. Colts offense finally put together a nice drive that ended with a 49 yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Taylor. Their 2-point conversion tied the score at 14.

Both teams scored field goals tying the score at 17-17. Following that the Texans put together a well executed drive overcoming a big sack and penalty. They scored a touchdown but missed the extra point. In the final seconds the Colts went for 4th and 1. Minshew’s pass was short to Goodson and he couldn’t make the catch.
But the Texans couldn’t run out the clock taking the safety. One second was left and they had to do a free kick. Colts tried to lateral the ball but fumbled it and the game was over. Rookie QB C.J. Stroud has lead his team to the playoffs and his future looks bright.
