End Of A Dynasty – Patriots And Bill Belichick Partnership Ends
There has been a lot of chatter about what direction the Patriots would go. Today we found out it’s the end of a dynasty as the Patriots and Bill Belichick partnership ends. After an insanely successful 24 year run the party is officially over. Owner Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick held a joint press conference at noon EST today. Both Kraft and Belichick emphasized that the parting was mutual and amicable.
When Belichick spoke he thanked the players, the press, and the fans. To the press he told them that he respected the work that they do. They may not have always seen eye to eye on some things but that he respected them nonetheless. He also expressed appreciation for the fans. Whether at home or abroad he appreciated the love and support the fans have shown throughout his time with the organization.
As for Kraft, he said it was a difficult decision. And that it would be hard to see Belichick in a cutoff hoodie for another team. Nevertheless the team has to move forward and he wished the best for Bill in the future. It felt very emotional hearing them both speak. I’m sure with all the memories and experiences they have shared this must feel rather surreal for them both. However, that’s life in the NFL.
Now it remains to be seen who Kraft will find to replace the iconic Belichick. Former player and current assistant coach Jerod Mayo has been mentioned. With the recent firing of Mike Vrabel he could also be a potential replacement. On a side note, both sons Steve and Brian Belichick are on the staff. Will they remain or follow their father wherever he may go? Although whoever the new coach may be is likely to bring in his own staff members.

Belichick’s overall record with the Patriots including the playoffs is 333-178. He also had seven seasons of 13 plus wins seasons. Of course much of the success occurred when Tom Brady was with the team. When he left after the 2019 season things started to go downhill. After his departure, the quarterback position has been unresolved.
Kraft will have his hands full trying to replace the legendary coach and quarterback.
