Eagles Showed No Love To The Packers In Wild Card Win

The Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Green Bay Packers in the first NFC Wild Card playoff game this weekend. Jalen Hurts missed the last two weeks of the regular season due to being in the concussion protocol. Jordan Love suffered an elbow injury and the Packers were on a two-game skid losing to the Vikings and Bears. And it looked as if their malaise followed the Packers into this game. Hence the Eagles showed no love to the Packers in the Wild Card playoff win.

It was a tough start for Green Bay as Keisean Nixon fumbled the opening kickoff. It was ruled that the Eagles recovered the ball. But on replay it looked like Nixon had possession of the ball but Eagles’ Jeremiah Trotter came away with the ball. At any rate the Eagles scored a touchdown from the turnover. Green Bay went three and out, then Philly punted and Green Bay had to punt again. Finally the Eagles put together a good running game and was able to kick a 31-yard field goal to go up 0-10. Jordan Love was intercepted on their next possession but the Eagles couldn’t capitalize going three and out.

Halfway into the second quarter Green Bay caught a break with good field position at their 43 yard line. But when they got to the red zone they had an ineligible downfield penalty, a run for a three yard loss and an incomplete pass. Love missed Tucker Kraft open in the back of the end zone. Then they missed the 38-yard field goal attempt, the first postseason miss for Brandon McManus. However, the Packers defense kept them in the game as they forced the Eagles to punt again. But the Eagle’s defense rose to the challenge and intercepted Jordan Love. However, the Eagle’s offense couldn’t take advantage of the turnover and went three and out.

At halftime the score was 0-10, Eagles. The sluggishness continued in the third quarter as the Eagles only got two yards on seven plays and punted on their opening drive. Green Bay got a little spark going and drove the ball 62 yards but incomplete passes stalled the drive. They came away with a 26-yard field goal. Philadelphia then put together a good drive including a 28-yard pass to DeVonta Smith and a 24-yard touchdown pass to Dallas Goedert. He stiff-armed Carrington Valentine three times on his way to the end zone. They missed the extra point kick.

The third quarter ended with Green Bay driving and the fourth quarter started with the touchdown and extra point kick. Green Bay pulled within six points of the lead. The Eagles went on to score two more field goals while the Packers continued to have guys getting injured. And Love was intercepted for the third time in the game. The Eagles won the game 10-22.

Green Bay Packers Devastated By Injuries

This was a hard fought defensive battle as both sides were flying around the field making plays. They kept both quarterbacks under pressure throughout the game. And the Packers had multiple players leave the game with injuries making it virtually impossible for them to mount any kind of comeback. Most of the offense came from rushing the ball by both teams. Saquon Barkley went over 100 yards and Josh Jacobs also had good run production.

Green Bay will get some much needed rest and recuperation while the Eagles advance to the divisional round of the playoffs. Hopefully Hurts was able to knock off some of the rust from missing the last couple of weeks of the regular season.
