Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Made Generous Donation To Schools
I always love to hear feel good stories and this week one came out of Philadelphia. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts made a generous donation to 10 Philadelphia schools. Today, Hurts attended an assembly at Edward Gideon Elementary School. Gideon is one of ten schools that will receive air conditioning units. Thanks to his $200,000.00 donation, 300 air conditioning units will be distributed among the 10 schools.
Per AL.com, at the assembly, Hurts spoke to the children, telling them: ““I know there’s been the issue of AC, the heat here. I think back to my time as a student, not being able to imagine some of the things that you guys have to go through, some of the issues that you guys deal with. I think, for me, I’ve understood that, obviously, what’s common isn’t so common. What’s common for me isn’t so common for everyone else.” It was clear that Hurts felt sympathy for the children and wanted to do something to help.
AL.com also noted that according to the school district’s five-year strategic plan released last year, more than 100 of its schools need air-conditioning installations or upgrades. The 10 schools that will be helped by Hurts’ donation are among those that have had early dismissals to deal with excessive heat in classrooms. I love to see Hurts giving back to the community in this way. And maybe it was no coincidence that he appeared on the hit comedy show Abbott Elementary.
Hurts is also hard at work getting ready for the upcoming 2024 season. He recently referred to himself as being in sponge mode. Entering his fifth NFL season, he is working with Kellen Moore, who will be his fifth offensive play caller. Usually high-caliber quarterbacks like Hurts are not subjected to multiple offensive coordinator changes.

Eagles players, including Hurts, are also raving about newly acquired RB Saquon Barkley. “I saw we signed Saquon Barkley,” new center Cam Jurgens joked. “Did you guys see that? I’m pretty fired up about that. That’s one of the best running backs to go through college at Penn State there so it’s fun being teammates with somebody like that. He’s a good dude. I’m excited to get to know him a little bit better.”
Defensive captain, Brandon Graham, and Tight End Dallas Goedert both praised Barkley for his leadership abilities. Graham believes Barkley can be an important voice in the running back room and for the offense. Sounds like team chemistry is cooking in Philly.
