Eagles Cut the Giants Down To Size
After losing three in a row Philadelphia needed to get back on track. And the Eagles did that when they cut the Giants down to size on Monday afternoon.
It was a quick three and out for the Giants to start the game. Britain Covey returned the punt back to the Giants 13 yard line. D’andre Swift caught a quick pass to the 1 yard line. Jalen Hurts punched it into the end zone. Eagles were up 0-7 in about 47 seconds.
The Giants responded with a 52 yard field goal. 39 year old Mason Crosby was brought in as the kicker just two days ago. He can still get the job done.
The Eagles had a crazy play on 3rd down. Jalen Hurts fumbled the ball, recovered it, threw it on the run, Grant Calcaterra caught it and got the first down. Then D’Andre Swift got caught in the backfield, got out of trouble, ran the ball to the side, almost went down but stayed upright and got into the end zone.
It was two amazing plays. But then the refs overturned the touchdown, saying Swift was down by contact. Eagles had to settle for a field goal. But the Eagles defense forced a three and out. So the Eagles offense started on their 48 yard line. Hurts rushed for 17 yards. On 2nd down, Hurts found D’Andre Swift who ran the catch for the 36 yard touchdown.
The Giants defense got some pressure on Jalen Hurts about halfway through the second quarter. They forced the Eagles to punt. With Saquon Barkley running, the Eagles finally started moving the ball. He converted on two 4th & 1 but on the third 4th down he was dropped for a loss. Eagles converted it to a field goal. At halftime the score was 3-20.

Eagles started the third quarter with a fumble on the return. The Giants recovered on the Eagles 14 yard line. Saquon Barkley ran it up the middle on 3rd & 3 for the touchdown. In the fourth quarter Tommy DeVito was replaced by Tyrod Taylor. Per head coach Brian Daboll, it was a coach’s decision.
Things improved for the Giants when Hurts was intercepted at the end of the third quarter. Adorre Jackson took it back 76 yards for the touchdown. Eagles responded with a masterful touchdown drive. And then Tyrod Taylor hit Darius Slayton for a 69 yard touchdown. But the Eagles kicked a 43 yard field goal, leaving 1:10 on the clock. And they held on for the 25-33 win.
