Dolphins Too Much For The Rams On Monday Night Football

There were a lot of hard hitting defensive plays and some acrobatic offensive catches. However, the Miami Dolphins proved to be too much for the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. I just love seeing quarterbacks and receivers hooking up on big plays. And that’s what the Dolphins gave us on their opening drive. Tua Tagovailoa hit Jaylen Waddle on a 19-yard pass but soon thereafter found himself in a 3rd & 13 situation. And that’s when Tagovailoa found Waddle again for a 36-yard completion. That was followed with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Malik Washington. Washington hurled his body about three yards sailing over the goal line with plenty of Rams defenders in pursuit. It was an entertaining opening drive.

After that the game became a defensive battle as both teams punted twice in the first quarter. Rams’ QB Matthew Stafford had a pass tipped at the end of the first quarter that was intercepted by the Dolphins. Calais Campbell, the 38-year old veteran responsible for the tip, is still playing like a young man. He was very disruptive over the course of the game. The Dolphins converted the turnover into a 50-yard field goal.

In the 2024 season the Rams have only scored one touchdown in the first quarter and the Dolphins kept that streak alive tonight. Also, the Rams had only 3 first downs in the first half up until their last drive of the half in which they had five first downs. Both teams made mistakes in the second quarter. Miami had an interception and a fumble and Los Angeles had a fumble. But the Dolphins were still in control going into halftime with a 10-6 lead.

Stafford was harassed by the Dolphins defense most of the night being pressured regularly and sacked four times. But the Rams defense doled out the same treatment for Tagovailoa while forcing him to hold on to the ball for too long. Resulting in big losses in yards and sacks. On the offensive side of the ball the quarterbacks and receivers were up and down. At times they seemed to be in perfect harmony and getting completions. And at other times they were definitely not on the same page. But tonight the Dolphins made more plays than the Rams. The Dolphins defense kept the Rams out of the end zone all night.

It was an entertaining battle and the Rams hung in there but without a touchdown they couldn’t overtake the Dolphins. This win ended Miami’s three-game losing streak while also ending LA’s three-game winning streak. The NFL is so unpredictable.
