Dodgers Shohei Ohtani Ticks Closer to 50-50 Season With 46th Home Run
The $700 million man is at it again. Having one of the most statistically insane seasons ever. The Los Angeles Dodgers Shohei Ohtani ticks even closer to a 50-50 Season with his 46th home run of the year.
Ohtani started the 2024 season off with a bang. And ever since he has not taken his foot off of the pedal. Amassing numerous home runs while also stealing bases like a mad man.
Before the season began and after signing his over half a billion dollar contract; Shohei had promised Los Angeles fans “multiple parades.” Which would mean multiple championships. With Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Guardians fans got a little more reassurance. Ohtani blasted another electrifying home run, helping the blue men win 0-4. And at the same time; keep their strong grip at the top of the NL West division.
Shohei looks good. Shohei looks focused. And Ohtani is certainly doing his part and job to help lead LA to glory.

However, there’s another interesting fun fact about Shohei’s lastest homer. And it comes via our sports stat queen… Sarah Langs. Langs addressed the distance of Shohei’s home run and how it relates to the history witnessed inside the walls of Dodger Stadium. Sarah writes (by the way, she was so excited she hit the all caps button, so we shall too in her honor),
“SHOHEI OHTANI IS THE ONLY PLAYER WITH MULTIPLE 450+ FT HR AT DODGER STADIUM UNDER STATCAST (2015) IN A CAREER. AND HE NOW HAS 6 THERE THIS YEAR!
Shohei Ohtani has 9 450+ ft HR so far this season that’s the most by Dodger in a career under Statcast (2015).
Dodger Stadium has had 16 450+ ft HR under Statcast (2015), 2nd-fewest of any MLB park in that span (Petco, 12). Shohei Ohtani is the only player with multiple of those. He has SIX.
Shohei Ohtani has 12 440+ ft HR so far this season. That’s tied for 2nd-most in a season under Statcast (2015), behind only:
2017 Giancarlo Stanton: 18
tied w/:
2023 Shohei Ohtani: 12
2021 Fernando Tatis Jr.: 12
2019 Pete Alonso: 12”
So exciting. This is what baseball is all about. Players pushing themselves and the sport to new heights (literally). Nonetheless, with a couple weeks left in the regular season; all baseball enthusiasts shall continue to be on Shohei Ohtani 50/50 watch.
