Dodgers Freddie Freeman Wins World Series MVP Award After Tying Record With 12 RBIs

This moment has to feel pretty darn magical and sweet. The Dodgers’ first baseman had a tough year. He spent time away from his team taking care of his son and then dealt with an injury after his return. But through all the challenges, the ups and downs, he pushed through and prevailed; helping his ball club win their first full season championship in 36 years. And now LA celebrates as the Dodgers Freddie Freeman wins the World Series MVP award after tying a WS record with 12 RBIs.

The Dodgers have won their eighth title and Freddie was a big part of their success. Actually, Freeman was pure baseball cinema this series. He blasted mesmerizing dingers all over the field. And made tons of history in the process.

For instance, Freddie homered in each of the first four games of the 2024 World Series. Becoming the first player to accomplish that feat. And this amazing streak began in dramatic fashion as he launched the first game-ending grand slam in World Series history (in game one). Plus, Freeman became the first MLB player to homer in six consecutive World Series games.

But… that’s not all. Now at the outset we mentioned that Freeman also tied a record this World Series. That of racking up 12 RBIs.

Therefore, you may wonder who he is now tied with; and when did it last happen? Well, New York Yankees second baseman Bobby Richardson also drove in 12 runs in 1960 against the Pittsburgh Pirates, who won the championship that year on Bill Mazeroski’s famous homer that ended Game 7. So now, after 64 years Richardson has some company in the record books.

Nevertheless, how does Freeman feel about his performance in the World Series? About the 12 RBIs? After being presented with the World Series MVP award, named in honor of Willie Mays; Freeman states, “That means there was a lot of my teammates on base. I’m glad I was able to get hot at the right time.” Class act. Congratulations again to him and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
