Dodgers Easily Eliminate Padres and Move on to Face Mets in NLCS

While this series started off as a bonafide banger; as time passed the excitement drastically wore off. Mainly due to San Diego’s bats deciding not to appear at Petco Park or Dodger Stadium. In games 4 and 5, the baseball realm watched as the Friars failed to score one single run. They couldn’t put up a fight. Due to lack of offense, the Dodgers easily eliminate the Padres and move on to face the Mets in the NLCS.

A playoff team not being able to score in TWO games seems like a tale of fiction. However, when it comes to the Padres; any fan will tell you it’s a common plague and Achilles heel of the San Diego organization. On Friday night, it seemed like the Padres of old came to the plate. A roster struggling with RISP and a group of bats trying to swing for the fences.

During the 2024 season the brown and gold looked much different. They scored. They could come back from behind. Heck, they had been the hottest team since the All Star break. Yet, in game 5 the Padres stayed as silent as they had been in Game 4. A team that had gone up 2-1 in the series found themselves free-falling down a rollercoaster to the pit stop of elimination.

The Dodgers however, took full advantage of their opponents’ icy performance. They faced pitcher, Yu Darvish who pitched beautifully by the way; and were able to put two runs on the board. While most would probably assume their win was due to $700 million superstar, Shohei Ohtani. Actually, two other Dodgers get the glory tonight.

The Dodgers effortlessly win thanks to a couple of home runs by Enrique (Kike) Hernandez and Teoscar Hernandez. Simple as that. But now the Dodgers will face “the final boss” in the National League, the New York Mets in the NLCS. A team with Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor that keeps coming back even when they get behind. Plus, these teams have a history with each other:

1988 NLCS: Mets lost in 7

2006 NLDS: Mets won in 3

2015 NLDS: Mets won in 5

2024 NLCS: ???

So then, this series should be a hard fought, electric matchup! Catch game one Sunday, October 13th.
