Dodgers and Yankees Heading to 2024 World Series!
Two teams. Two ball clubs. Both with a lot of legacy at stake. For New York this is their first appearance in the fall classic since 2009; 15 years in the making. For Los Angeles, an opportunity to once and for all; end the “shortened season champs” allegations and win a full season championship. With the Dodgers and Yankees heading to the 2024 World Series both organizations adamantly want to bring championship glory back to their sports cities.
LA and NY both had very successful 2024 regular seasons. Collecting the most “W’s” in their respective divisions. And they had some splashy additions added to their rosters this year in order to make it happen.
For instance, in a mega trade with the San Diego Padres, the Yankees were able to snag Juan Soto. The Soto and Aaron Judge duo not only proved to be effective in the regular season; but translated into the postseason. Soto even homered in game 5 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians to help the Yankees secure their advancement to the World Series.
On the Dodgers side, who can forget the wild Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes? After “quiet” meetings that were not to be discussed and some predictive tweets; Shohei went with the Dodgers. To the tune of a $700 million contract. LA also grabbed Teoscar Hernandez, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow; creating a super team that could go the distance. Furthermore, every single acquisition proved to be worth every billion dollar cent. Helping the ball club get to the postseason and go deep into it despite numerous injuries.

Nevertheless, this should be a series for the books. New York and Los Angeles certainly have a LONG history with each other. In fact the Yankees and Dodgers are meeting up in the World Series for 12th time. As the Associated Press recalls,
“Broadway vs. Hollywood. Subway vs. Freeway. Judge vs. Ohtani.
New York is 8-3 against the Dodgers in the most frequent World Series matchup, including 6-1 against Brooklyn and 2-2 since the rivalry became Big Apple against Tinseltown. New York neighbors who became cross-country rivals, the Yankees and Dodgers renew their starry struggle in the World Series for the first time in 43 years.
Two of baseball’s most successful teams face each other starting Friday at Dodger Stadium, the Yankees coming off their 41st American League pennant and the Dodgers their 25th National League championship. New York is seeking its 28th World Series title but first since 2009, the Dodgers their eighth and second in a five-year span.”
