Disney ESPN And NFL Presenting Another Funday Football Telecast
I definitely had a blast watching the animated version of an NFL game last year. It took place in Andy’s room of Toy Story fame and the cuteness factor was on overload. Now Disney, ESPN and the NFL are teaming up to present another Funday Football telecast. On Monday, December 9, an animated Monday Night Football game will be transformed in real-time into the iconic Simpsons world using Sony’s Beyond Sports Technology. The animated version will take place at Atoms Stadium in Springfield. It will feature the Cincinnati Bengals at the Dallas Cowboys, ESPN’s Monday Night Football game that evening.
To view this alternate presentation it can be streamed on Disney+ and ESPN+, and, on mobile, with NFL+. Whereas the traditional telecast will be available on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes, with Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli on ESPN2. All telecasts will begin at 8 p.m. ET. The Simpsons creators have collaborated on the look, sound, and feel with ESPN and the NFL. So you can be sure the telecast will be authentic to the longest running primetime scripted series.
The Simpsons Funday Football will see every snap, run, pass, score, and more from the real-life Bengals and Cowboys matchup at AT&T Stadium as it happens. It will be a family affair as Bart Simpson sides with Joe Burrow and the Bengals while Homer aligns with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Fans can look forward to Bart and Homer selecting key opportunities to play offense and/or defense, replacing a player and joining his other 10 teammates on the field. How cool is that?

The commentators for the animated telecast will be Mina Kimes and Dan Orlovsky with Drew Carter calling the game action. Other features you can expect from the alternate telecast are:
- dozens of the show’s iconic characters
- Authentic Simpson’s voices including Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, and Yeardley Smith
- Simpsons producers have written original content for the telecast
- Animated segments incorporating Stephen A. Smith, Peyton and Eli Manning, and others
- Players from both teams will have pre-recorded segments which include interactions with Simpsons characters
Toy Story Funday Football was the most-viewed event ever on ESPN+. And in October 2023 it was the biggest live event to date on Disney+. In other words it was a smashing success. And this year’s Funday with the Simpsons will likely be just as popular. I know I’ll be watching.
