Detroit Got Their Motor Going In Big Win Over Tampa Bay
Was this is football game or a remake of 300? Because the battle was intense. Nevertheless, Detroit got their motor going in a big win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was a nail-biting contest as the teams continued to trade scores. It took until the fourth quarter for the tie to be broken.
Detroit got the ball to start the game and went three and out. But Tampa Bay didn’t fare any better. After getting a first down, Baker Mayfield took an eight yard sack. Then he tried to connect on a deep pass to Mike Evans but was intercepted by C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Detroit turned that into a 23 yard field goal. However, Tampa Bay evened the score with a 43 yard field goal.
Next Detroit drew first blood in the second quarter. They started the drive running and ended it with passing. Jared Goff found Josh Reynolds for the nine yard touchdown. After that the offensive production bogged down as Detroit punted twice. Whereas the Buccaneers punted once and then had a missed field goal. Despite being pressured, Mayfield completed a couple big passes to Evans. They finished the drive and the half with a two yard touchdown pass to Cade Otton.
The parity continued into the third quarter with each team scoring a touchdown. But in the fourth quarter the Lions finally broke out, scoring two touchdowns. Tampa Bay fell behind when they went three and out and had to punt. But they fought back with Mayfield again completing big passing plays to his receivers. Mike Evans caught the 16 yard touchdown pass. But the two-point attempt failed.

Despite that the Buccaneers still had a chance to try to tie the game with about two minutes left on the clock. But on the second play of the drive the Lions dialed up the pressure. Mayfield saw the defender coming at him and threw the ball. Derrick Barnes jumped in front of Mike Evans and picked off the pass. Effectively ending the game and the Buccaneers’ season.
After a tough, gritty fight the Lions have sealed their place in the NFC Championship game. Where they will head to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. But in the meantime, the Lions fans celebrated long after the game ended. It’s a proud moment for the city of Detroit. So will they be Super Bowl bound next week? I can’t wait to find out!
