Denver Broncos Agreed To Terms On New Extension With Defensive Lineman Zach Allen

He spent the first four years of his career with the Arizona Cardinals being selected with the 65th pick overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. During his debut of Week 1 of the 2019 season he recorded three solo tackles. However, he really started to cook when he joined the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2023 season. No doubt the team has been very happy with him. Because today the Denver Broncos agreed to terms on a new extension with defensive lineman Zach Allen.

Regarding the deal, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted some details about the extension:

“Another deal in Denver: Broncos are signing All-Pro DL Zach Allen to a four-year, $102 million deal that includes $69.5 million guaranteed, per ESPN sources. Allen was entering the last year of his deal, but no longer.”

“Earlier in the week, Courtland Sutton. Now Zach Allen. Both were entering the last year of their contracts. Denver locking up its core and productive players.”

And spotrac.com added a little more information about the deal regarding cap space stating:

“Zach Allen signed a 4 year, $102,000,000 contract with the Denver Broncos, including $24,000,000 signing bonus, $69,500,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $25,500,000. In 2025, Allen will earn a base salary of $2,490,000 and a signing bonus of $24,000,000, while carrying a cap hit of $14,345,000 and a dead cap value of $63,050,000.”

Allen definitely put in the work to earn this new extension. He earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2024 as he recorded a career-high 61 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 40 quarterback hits and 8.5 sacks. Allen joins J.J. Watt, Nick Bosa, T.J. Watt and Aaron Donald as the only players with at least 40 quarterback hits in a season since the stat was first tracked in 2006.

No one is more pleased with the deal getting done and how it was done than Allen himself. He spoke about it today saying:

“The fact that we were able to go about this the way we have compared to probably some other things around the league is a testament to what we’re building,” Allen said Saturday.

“It’s a business but it never got contentious. And I think that was a cool thing was just the way that everybody handled it.”

He’s likely referring to the unsettled situation between the Dallas Cowboys and pass rusher Micah Parsons. There has certainly been a lot of contentiousness involved with that situation. But fortunately for Allen he doesn’t have to worry about that. As Schefter mentioned, the Broncos also got Courtland Sutton under contract earlier this week. So they have worked hard to lock down some of their best players.

Congratulations to Allen and Sutton on their hard earned new deals!
