Deion Sanders Compares Shohei Ohtani to Michael Jordan and Tom Brady
Whenever an athlete seems to transcend what most deem as “normal” excellence. Of course, the comparisons are going to begin. Since generational talent can be like lightning in a bottle. Rare but when you witness it, it is absolutely exhilarating. Colorado’s coach was interviewed by Yahoo! Sports and he made an interesting comment. Deion Sanders compared Shohei Ohtani to Michael Jordan and Tom Brady.
Till this day, there has not been a NBA player like Michael Jordan. Love him or not, he changed the face of professional basketball. Jordan revolutionized the sneaker industry, helped create a stronger marriage between sponsors and athletes; made basketball more popular worldwide; and MJ and company are among the three only teams or franchises to three peat in NBA history. The Bulls, Celtics and Lakers.
As for Tom Brady, he is currently reigning as the undisputed GOAT of the NFL. A tough title to attain when one has had to play in a league that has blessed us with quarterbacks such as: Bart Starr, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, the Manning Bros, Johnny Unitas, Troy Aikman, Otto Graham, Brett Favre, Steve Young, John Elway and Dan Marino (yes Marino doesn’t have hardware but the man could play). Nevertheless, on top is where Brady shall reside. That is until someone can collect more rings than him. But it is still going to be a minute before someone gets to seven championships.
Therefore, Deion placing Shohei into the same category as a MJ or Brady is no small matter. It shows the level of greatness that Ohtani is displaying to the world. Just this season, Shohei created the 50/50 club and has been steadily tacking onto the numbers. Great indeed.

However, the one thing that separates Ohtani from Michael Jordan and Tom Brady is simple: championships. And not just one. Tom and Michael’s careers have yielded multiple titles. Can Ohtani accomplish the same? Only time will tell. However, being on a team that usually gets to the playoffs; his odds have now immensely increased.
Furthermore, even now, Shohei is deserving of praise and recognition. Regarding Ohtani and how he’s played this season Deion Sanders states,
“Ohtani, he’s incredible, man. You could compare him to the (Michael) Jordans and the Tom Bradys of the world. That’s who he is. He’s doing things that we haven’t fathomed.”
Ohtani certainly is a special athlete. He is among those pushing the sport of baseball to new heights. And it is so refreshing and entertaining to see the magic occur right before our eyes.
