Dawn Staley Has Led South Carolina to SIX STRAIGHT Final Four Appearances

She’s backkkkk. It’s not a repeat, it’s not flash in the pan; it’s now just becoming tradition. Dawn Staley has led South Carolina to SIX STRAIGHT Final Four appearances (2021-2026). Out of these appearances Staley and the Gamecocks have achieved two championship title wins in 2022 and 2024.

Furthermore, Dawn’s college basketball tenure as a coach continues to be cemented by greatness. Staley is headed to her EIGHTH Final Four since 2015 with the South Carolina Gamecocks. And she has developed her squad into offensive machines. South Carolina has outscored opponents by 161 points in the NCAA tournament; which is the largest point differential entering the Final Four in SEC history. Additionally, college hoops enthusiasts say the name “Dawn Staley” and what immediately comes to mind is her:

3 National Championships
6 straight national semifinals
4 time National Coach of the year

Nevertheless, currently Staley is focused on getting the Gamecocks to the championship game. For much of the tournament it seemed like Dawn Staley and her South Carolina crew could win this thing with their hands tied behind their backs. They didn’t just win against their opponents. They straight up DOMINATED.

South Carolina cruised through its first three NCAA Tournament games with relative ease. The Gamecocks won games against No. 16 seed Southern, No. 9 seed Southern Cal and No. 4 seed Oklahoma by an average of 45 points. South Carolina scored 90-plus in all three games and 100-plus points in the first two.

South Carolina’s only “real challenge” came during their Elite Eight matchup versus TCU. TCU made things interesting by starting the game on top and leading for most of the first quarter. However, the tide would turn. Staley’s squad led by 10 in the third quarter, dominating the glass and being ruthless on defense as they expanded their lead to 20 points. They then kept rolling starting the fourth quarter on a 12-0 run. Eventually, the Gamecocks would claim victory; punching their ticket to Phoenix with a 78-52 win over No. 3 seed TCU.

But now, South Carolina will face a real test at long last. To move forward they will have to get past the likes of Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd. Yes, SC needs to defeat UConn. If they do, they could be the school to beat and bring home yet another title.

This will not be an easy walk in the park. On Friday, the Gamecocks will face No. 1 overall seed and defending champion UConn (38-0) in a rematch of last year’s national title game. Therefore, don’t miss the action, the Huskies will face South Carolina in the Final Four on Friday at 7 PM ET on ESPN.
