Damian Lillard Will Miss Start of Playoffs When Bucks Play Pacers
The NBA playoffs are approaching at lightening speed and teams are reviewing their rosters to see who they will have on hand in their quest for a championship. Of course, injuries are always a factor. Teams that can stay healthy have more of an “arsenal” during this final big push. Currently, Milwaukee will be down one of their playmakers this weekend. This week it was confirmed that, Damian Lillard will miss the start of the playoffs when the Bucks play the Indiana Pacers.
As we previously reported back in March, “[Damian] Lillard [had been] on blood thinners, which has stabilized the blood clot in his right leg. And he [would] continue with regular testing to get him back to good health.”
Lillard remain optimistic, but knew it was best to step away momentarily from work in order to get healthy again for his family and loved ones. Regarding dealing with the blood clot Damian had said,
“It’s unfortunate that something outside of my control would come up. Along with the Bucks’ medical staff, our priorities are to protect my health and safety. As much as I love basketball, I need to be there for my kids and my family. I’m grateful the Bucks acted quickly on this. They’ve been supportive and proactive throughout this process. I look forward to moving past this and continuing my career.”

Fortunately, there has been a very positive update on Lillard. The Milwaukee camp is seeing some very good progress in Damian’s recovery. Shams Charania reports,
“Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard (blood clot) will miss the start of the NBA playoffs, sources tell ESPN. Bucks play Game 1 of the first round against the Pacers on Saturday. Lillard has been sidelined since March 18, and doctors continue to monitor progress for clearance.
Lillard has, however, made significant progress with the blood clot and there remains optimism for his clearance at some point in the playoffs, sources said. He is continuing to increase basketball activity this week.”
This is wonderful news. It is very entertaining to see Damian Lillard in action on the court. However, health is extremely important and should always come first. Nevertheless, hopefully Damian will be able to return and rejoin his team soon during the postseason.
