Crypto.com Arena returning back to Staples Center

Crypto.com Arena Returning Back to Staples Center?-LA Will Keep On Dreaming!

Don’t call it a come back! No one in Los Angeles really ever accepted the name change; but here we are. After about 2 years since the upset, some news is rolling up on the west coast; Crypto.com Arena returning back to Staples Center … well, actually no, but we at least had a close and very good cigar.

Staples Center, home to several championship and high caliber sports teams such as the Lakers, Kings, Clippers as well as Sparks; is a major Los Angeles landmark. Tourists literally come to take in an event, or just to be able to see it with their own eyes. Knowing that this legendary spot was once home to icons like Shaq and Kobe Bryant.

I personally remember losing my mind watching NBA and hockey games at Staples. The energy… always electric. And seeing the Kings win their first championship will always be etched in my heart.

Nevertheless, back in December of 2021, things for the arena changed. This is when Crypto.com (a Singapore cryptocurrency) attains naming rights with a 20-year, $700 million agreement. Watching the name go from Staples Center to Crypto.com Arena never really felt right. However, that’s just business, and how sometimes the cookie crumbles.

Staples Center opening goes back to the 1900s. 1999 to be exact (a little history humor if you will). But yes, doors opened on October 17, 1999 and the rest is a story you already know.

Crypto.com Arena Returning Back to Staples Center-Time to Celebrate Los Angeles!

So now you might be wondering, what is happening then? What is going on? Why did some on social media feel like the name might be changing back?

Well, as we mentioned earlier, sometimes it just comes down to business. Crypto.com is fizzing out its institutional exchange in the United States; affecting some 400 customers. Moreover, in a statement the company feels like this move will not be an overall big deal. Regarding the changes the cryptocurrency brand says,

“We remain fully confident in the continued success of our market differentiating capabilities and offerings and will continue to offer regulated services in the markets in which we operate.”

What will also continue (unfortunately) is the arena’s new name. Every time you hit up a sporting event in the heart of downtown LA you will still have to see Crypto.com Arena splattered on the building. So yes, Crypto.com is switching up, but they are adamant that our beloved Staples Center will forever be history.

Well, to help us cope with these developments and to continue on; it’s appropriate to quote Kobe Bryant. All of LA must, “Have a good time. Enjoy life. Life is too short to get bogged down and be discouraged. You have to keep moving. You have to keep going.”
