Cowboys and RB Javonte Williams Agree to Three-Year $24M Deal With $16M Guaranteed

His legs no doubt made a difference on the field, although Dallas’ season may not have gone as planned. Nonetheless, the organization recognized that to build successfully for the future, you must retain the components that work. For this reason and more, the Dallas Cowboys and RB Javonte Williams have agreed to terms on a three-year $24M deal with $16M guaranteed.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport confirmed the news and Williams contract details stating,

“The Cowboys and standout RB Javonte Williams have agreed to terms on a 3-year deal worth $24M, sources say. Dallas keeps a big-time player. He gets his $8M per year after a breakout season in a deal that was done by agent Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports.”

Brian Schottenheimer commented on the Javonte extension, mentioning that Williams fits perfectly in the system and roster the organization is building. He says,

“A big piece of what we want to do. Because of the changes we’re dealing with on defense, and on the staff, and all the holes we need to fill, to get a piece like that’s still young and an ascending football player, his play style, his leadership. I love everything about the guy. He’s a guy that I really feel like can help push this offense to another level.”

Additionally, Schottenheimer said it was “awesome,” that the Cowboys were able to keep RB Javonte Williams on a 3-year deal. Allows the franchise to make further moves and decisions. Plus, Brian reveals that this extension was a no-brainer because Javonte Williams strongly desired and wanted to be Cowboy.

Schottenheimer told the media, “But a big part of it was he wanted to be here. So we wanted him back. He wanted to be here.”

Williams set career highs in rushing yards, carries and touchdowns last year. Williams finished with 1,201 yards, the ninth most in the NFL even while missing the last game because of a stinger issue that bothered him for most of the season’s final month. Williams, who turns 26 in April, also had 252 carries and 11 rushing touchdowns after topping out at 903 yards (2021), 217 carries (2023) and four TDs (2021, ’24) with the Broncos.

His 1,201 yards were the most by a Cowboys running back since Ezekiel Elliott in 2019 (1,357). He also caught 35 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns. No wonder Dallas made sure to get a deal done.
