However, this new data may be demonstrating a different trend. More English speaking sports fans may be growing in their appreciation and love for soccer. At least, FOX’s data seems to at least hint or suggest as much.

In a statement, FOX Sports confirmed the news of the high ratings for the CONMEBOL Copa América Championship. They reveal,
“Argentina’s dramatic win in extra time over Colombia in the CONMEBOL Copa América Championship Sunday evening became the most watched Copa América final ever in U.S. English language TV history, delivering 6,019,000 viewers on FOX, and the second most watched non-World Cup soccer telecast in FOX history only behind the Euro final earlier in the day. The tournament overall now stands as the most watched Copa América in U.S. English language TV history averaging 1,418,000 viewers across FOX, FS1 and FS2.
Most watched tournament, final, semifinals, quarterfinals and group stage averages ever in U.S. English language TV history.
Most streamed Copa América in FOX Sports history (up +493% vs. 2021); Top 3 matches on digital: Final (Argentina vs. Colombia, 338,000 AMA), Group (USMNT vs. Uruguay, 164,000), Semi (Uruguay vs. Colombia, 115,000 AMA).”
