Colorado Buffaloes Announce Deion Sanders 5-Year $54 Million Contract Extension

Well-deserved. He has taken a bottom ranked team and brought it back up to relevancy. Had an electric player win a Heisman among other accolades and now witnessing Colorado athletes being deemed top NFL draft prospects. Now his school is showing him the money. On Friday, the Colorado Buffaloes announce Deion Sanders new 5-Year $54 million contract extension.

This deal makes Coach Prime one of the highest paid coaches in football. Where does he land? Deion finds himself as the 4th highest paid coach in college football. After turning around the Buffs’ football program, putting a crowd in seats, increasing city revenue and getting to a Bowl game.

According to Spotrac the five highest paid NCAA Football coaches:

1. Kirby Smart $13.2M

2. Ryan Day $12.5M

3. Dabo Swinney $11.1M

4. Deion Sanders $10.8M

5. Steve Sarkisian $10.6M

The university excitedly took to social media to herald their extension news. Posting a photo of Coach Prime which indicates he is extended through 2029; along with the caption, “NOW GIVE ME MY THEME MUSIC. Coach Prime is staying in Boulder!”

Deion Sanders also released a brief message via social media during the flurry of news regarding his contract. He provides a little advice and thoughts on hard work. He says,

“You’ve got to Go and Grow! Go do what you’re blessed and gifted to do, and Grow little by little as you Go. Ain’t none of us a finished Product so don’t judge. An idle man will eventually be a broke man and a stagnant woman is oftentimes an unkind woman. Go and Grow Baby!”

Deion Sanders is definitely growing as a coach; and his bank account is growing in the process. Brian Howell, a beat writer for Colorado broke down Deion’s contract. He reveals,

“BREAKING: Colorado’s board of regents have approved a new 5-yr, $54 million contract for head coach Deion Sanders that will make him one of the highest-paid coaches in the country. Yearly base salary breakdown:
2025: $10M
2026: $10M
2027: $11M
2028: $11M
2029: $12M

Colorado’s Deion Sanders will earn an average of $10.8 million during his 5-year contract. That is triple the average of the highest-paid coach in CU history prior to his arrival: Karl Dorrell, at $3.6 million per year.”

Deion Sanders is worth every single cent. You don’t have to look back far to see the turnaround. Colorado just 2 short years ago had an 1-11 season. Literally the worst program in the Power 5.

However, with Sanders at the helm everything changes. Colorado now is riding high off of a 9-4 season and a Heisman Trophy winner. Deion really helped change the game for Colorado; enjoy the extension Sanders.
