Russ is on the move… again. The nine-time All-Star and the 2017 MVP for Oklahoma City, was traded for the fifth time in his career. Which is also the most ever by a former league MVP. Moreover, when all is said and done; Westbrook will most likely keep it on moving and end up as a member of the Denver Nuggets. How? Well, the Los Angeles Clippers traded Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz in a sign and trade for Kris Dunn; but is “expected to agree” on a contract buyout with the Jazz; thus clearing the path for him to join the Nuggets.

Denver had a very successful 2023-2024 season. Staying competitive throughout the year and making it to the playoffs. However, the Timberwolves would viciously shred up the Nuggets’ chances of moving on. With Minnesota winning 98-90 in Game 7.

Nevertheless, adding a player like Westbrook could prove extremely valuable to the franchise. Russell not only still has gas in the tank. But he is extremely effective at bringing out the best in the guys around him. Case in point, Westbrook’s relationship with with Terance Mann.

In a press conference inside the Clippers’ new home, Intuit Dome; Mann opened up about the Westbrook trade situation. Also, on how Russell will be missed, was helpful to his development; and how the two became such electric duo during their time together. Mann states,

“It’s been amazing. To be on a team with Russell Westbrook. I’ve been a big fan of his since he’s been in the NBA… Just being able to watch him lead and be great, it’s cool.

I’m kinda sad that Russ isn’t here to help me feed off the fans. I loved doing that with him. That was one of my favorite things. Just being able to make big time plays with Russ, and get the fans engaged, and his energy. So that’s gonna be missed.”

So then, what’s next? Kris Dunn will officially head to the Clippers on a three-year, $17 million deal as part of the sign-and-trade. The Clippers also sent a second-round pick swap and cash to the Jazz.

But Westbrook who obviously had plans on staying in LA since he opted into the final year of his deal. A deal worth a little over $4 million. Now, it appears as though he and the Jazz will come to an agreement on a buyout number so that he can sign with his preferred option of the Nuggets.
