What a turn of events. After falling from the first round to the fifth and enduring a prank draft phone call; the Dawg Pound’s newest rookie QB has yet another reason to put that all behind him; smile and press forward in having a great NFL career. His popularity is soaring and it is clearly showing in merch sales. Right now, the Cleveland Browns Shedeur Sanders has the number one selling rookie jersey of his draft class.
Normally, this feat goes to the top picks of the draft. The first rounders. However, Shedeur has had no problem in quickly becoming a fan favorite despite being drafted as the 144th pick of the 2025 NFL draft. In the first few days from the drafts conclusion, it was clear that Sanders was going to cash in regardless of not going early. His jersey was immediately one of the top three jerseys sold; and the numbers just kept rising.
So then, despite not getting the larger contract he most likely would have received if he had been picked in the first round. Going later is not seeming to affect his bank account negatively one bit. He will still be getting paid the big bucks.
Nevertheless, sources confirm that by Shedeur being a much later selection than initially expected; he may have lost out on anywhere from $17 to over $39 million by not going in the 1st round. That is a lot of dough. However, now he’s cashing in elsewhere.

Fanatics confirmed that Sanders has nine different jersey offerings—more than any pick aside from Cameron Ward—and all are flying off virtual shelves. These jerseys are retailing for $129 on the NFL Shop page and $99 for tshirts. And yes, players do get paid from jersey sales.
As of April 2021, players receive two-thirds of the proceeds from jersey sales. The remaining third typically goes to the NFL Players Association (NFLPA); which then puts some of that money into a pool for all players.
