Cincinnati Bengals Re-Signed Tight End Mike Gesicki
Well it wasn’t one of the pass catchers for whom quarterback Joe Burrow has been publicly campaigning for Cincinnati to keep. However, he was still a big part of the Bengals offense last season. The eight year veteran helped to make life a little bit easier on the gridiron for Burrow. Therefore, the Cincinnati Bengals re-signed their big tight end Mike Gesicki. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport posted the details of the deal.
“It’s a 3-year deal worth $25.5M for Mike Gesicki. While the #Bengals work on their two star WRs, their emerging TE stays with Joe Burrow, too.”
With Gesicki staying in Cincinnati, this will be his first time in eight seasons that he’ll have the same offensive coordinator. He played on a one-year deal with the New England Patriots before heading to Cincinnati to play on another one-year deal. But now that the agreement has been reached he can breathe easy knowing he’ll be in the same place for awhile. There was an immediate connection between Burrow and Gesicki who was impactful with all his yards after catch. He had 75 yards after the catch on his 18 third-down catches, more third-down YAC than Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and Zay Flowers, per The Football Database.
The continuity he’ll now have means a lot to Gesicki. “Just to be with one guy, and obviously how elite he is, you’ve just got to stop to think about it for a second what could be,” Gesicki told Bengals.com last year. “But I’m grateful for the opportunity that I have now. Year seven, to finally have that opportunity.”
Burrow expressed his appreciation for all of Gesicki’s hard work last season. Regarding the last game of the 2024 season, he said, “Mike was great today,” Burrow said that night. “He made contested plays in big spots … Just watching the tape all week, I knew it was going to be a big Mike game, and he stepped up big for us.”

The Bengals also extended tight end Tanner Hudson for another year. In addition, they’ve given a one-year extension to guard Jaxson Kirkland. All of which begs the question, what is going on with the wide receivers contracts? Burrow has not been shy about his desire to keep Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on the the team.
For the second year in a row, the Bengals have placed the franchise tag on Tee Higgins. And they haven’t been able to negotiate a deal with Ja’Marr Chase either. So what’s the hold up? I don’t have the answer so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
