Cincinnati Bengals Advanced QB Joe Burrow For A Limited Return To Practice
He has been injury riddled throughout his whole NFL career. But when he’s on the field he is an electrifying difference-maker. So naturally, the team would want him on the field making plays. However, this past September he was struck down with a turf toe injury. And has been on the Reserve/Injured list ever since Sept. 16. However, the Cincinnati Bengals have advanced QB Joe Burrow for a limited return to practice.
As of Monday, November 12, the 21-day period started during which he may begin limited practice with the team. Without counting against the 53-player active roster. He is eligible to be activated to the roster during the 21-day period. So the good news for the team is that their starting quarterback could be ready to return to action sometime in December. Which is right in line with the previous projected three-month recovery period.
Head coach Zac Taylor spoke about how the process is going for Burrow, he stated:
“I think he’s ready for this part of the recovery, to come back on a limited basis and progress it on the field with the players,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Monday. “I think he’s [at] a good point.
“Internally, this was always a good timeline for us. He’s worked really hard to get to this point, to get back on the field in a limited form. So I’m excited to get him out there.”
He won’t be playing this week in the big division rival game against the 5-4 Steelers. Nor is he expected to play in Week 12 against the red hot New England Patriots. However, there is a possibility of him playing on Thanksgiving day against their other AFC North division rivals the Baltimore Ravens.

While Burrow has been out veteran Joe Flacco has been holding down the offensive fort and doing a good job. Since Flacco arrived the Bengals have averaged 32.75 points per game. Which should have been enough to win more games; yet the Bengals currently sit at 3-6 in their division. Just one game above the disastrous Cleveland Browns but only two games below the first place Pittsburgh Steelers.
Although it will be good for the Bengals to have Burrow back they have to shore up their defense. They’re giving up more points per game than their offense can score at an average of 36 points per game. Nobody can win games with a losing formula like that. So even though Flacco was an upgrade the team is still 1-3 with him at the helm. Things won’t improve with Burrow’s return if the defense doesn’t play a lot better than they have been playing. Nevertheless kudos to Burrow on crushing his recovery timeline!
