Center Frank Ragnow Coming Out of Retirement to Rejoin the Detroit Lions
HE STILL GOT ONE MORE IN HIM! It’s normal to see a guy retire. However, it is not always common to see a guy come back out of retirement and head back to work. Well, one of Detroit’s finest believes he’s got plenty in the tank and is ready to roll. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Center Frank Ragnow is coming out of retirement to rejoin the Detroit Lions.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapaport reported on the Ragnow decision to come on back. He states, “The Lions offensive line just got a lot better, as one of the game’s greats will return — Center Frank Ragnow is returning. Sounds like he’s in shape and ready to roll sooner, rather than later.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also had a thought on the Frank un-retirement. Schefter added, “Four-time Pro-Bowl center Frank Ragnow is coming out of retirement and returning to the Lions. Frank Ragnow announced his retirement from the NFL in June at the age of 29. He now has decided to unretire and return to the Lions. Asked why, one source said, ‘Loves the game.’ Frank Ragnow’s first chance to play for the Lions will come next Thursday vs. the Cowboys, though it is considered unlikely for now, per source. A potential return-to-play date is Dec. 14 at the LA Rams.”

Today, the Detroit Lions made several roster decisions besides reinstating Ragnow. If you missed their official announcement, here is a recap of their moves:
Waived RB Craig Reynolds.
Activated DE Marcus Davenport from Reserve/Injured.
Activated OL Miles Frazier from Reserve/PUP.
Signed TE Anthony Firkser and WR Tom Kennedy to the Actice Roster from the Practice Squad.
Elevated OL Kingsley Eguakun and TE Zach Horton from the Practice Squad to the Active/Inactive list.
Reinstated OL Frank Ragnow from the Reserve/Retired List (has been placed on Exempt/Commissioner Permission List).
Frank Ragnow now joins a list of high-profile players un-retiring this year. A list including Brandon Graham as well as Darren Waller. The Lions currently have a 7-4 record being just one win behind the Bears (8-3) who lead their division (NFC North). Having Ragnow on board will definitely help with the Lions’ final stretch run and potentially the playoffs. Welcome back Frank.
