Carmelo Anthony Elected Into Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Another superstar finds themselves being newly minted as a Hall of Famer. An achievement that many athletes work tirelessly for throughout their tenure on the court. On Wednesday, it was confirmed that Carmelo Anthony has been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

But seriously, was there ever a doubt? Truth be told, no. Melo’s career speaks for itself. Anthony made 10 All-Star appearances and six All-NBA teams in 19 seasons to go along with three Olympic gold medals for Team USA.

His success started early in his playing days. Going back to college where he became a Syracuse legend and NCAA champion. Leading the university to its very first NCAA championship while averaging 17.5 shots and 22.2 points per game; and was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player.

From there, things just continued to go upwards. He leaves college hoops behind and begins his journey of wowing basketball fans for almost two decades; playing for 6 teams. Carmelo Anthony had 36 games with 40+ points. And impressive career statistics: 28,289 Points (22.5 ppg); 7,808 Rebounds (6.2 rpg) and 3,422 Assists (2.7 apg).

ESPN’s Shams Charania was first on the news about Anthony’s HOF election. At the time of the reporting, Carmelo had already been informed that he would be a part of the 2025 class. Nevertheless, Charania states,

“First ballot: Carmelo Anthony has been notified that he’s been elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025, sources tell ESPN. Anthony made 10 All-Star appearances and six All-NBA teams in 19 seasons.”

Furthermore, this is not the only honor Anthony will get to revel in this year. It was recently announced that Carmelo Anthony will also be Syracuse University’s 2025 commencement speaker. The school explains why they feel he is the perfect speaker for this year along with a few other details. They reveal,

“Anthony’s commencement speech will come shortly before his son, Kiyan, begins his freshman year at Syracuse. Anthony will be the primary speaker during the event, which will take place this year on Sunday, May 11.

Anthony played only one season of college basketball for the Orange but made it into what may be the best one-and-done season in the history of college basketball.

He helped the Orange win the school’s first NCAA Tournament championship in 2003 and was named a consensus All-American as a freshman after averaging 22.2 points and 10 rebounds per game. Anthony went on to be drafted No. 3 in the NBA Draft and thrived at both the NBA and international levels of the sport. He currently ranks 10th all-time in points scored during an NBA career and 12th among players who competed in the NBA or ABA.”

Very nice. Carmelo has the respect of his peers, former university, coaches, teammates and fans all over the globe. One of the best to play the game and much deserving of this Hall of Fame nod. Congratulations Carmelo Anthony.
