Caitlin Clark Will Not Play in New Unrivaled 3×3 League

She brought massive amounts of attention and new fans to the WNBA. Helping to increase viewership and in-person attendance. Therefore, it is not a surprise that the new Unrivaled league would want her to participate, bringing her influence and exciting style of the play to the court. However, it is not to be. Caitlin Clark will not play in the new Unrivaled 3×3 league.

Caitlin had already suggested she would not be involved this season. However, ESPN’s women’s basketball account on social media platform X, helped to break and officially confirm the 3×3 news. Regarding Clark the page mentions,

“BREAKING: Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark will not play in the new 3-on-3 league Unrivaled in its upcoming inaugural season, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN on Wednesday.”

Nonetheless, Ben Pickman of The Athletic had this to add,

“Re: the ESPN report saying Caitlin Clark will reportedly not play in Unrivaled in its inaugural season…

A source with knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic that the league still has an open invite out to Clark to participate this year.

That doesn’t mean she won’t end up sitting out — as ESPN reports —, but that if she happens to change her mind this year, or want to play in future years, Unrivaled would seemingly still sign her (Which is, of course, a no brainer decision for them).”

So what will Caitlin be up to while she awaits the start of her second season in the W? ESPN’s Michael Voepel revealed some plans as well as additional details about the upcoming Unrivaled showdown. Michael explains,

“Unrivaled announced the players who will be on its six teams Wednesday, but there are still two wild-card spots to be filled to complete the 36 players who make up the league. All Unrivaled’s games will be played in Miami, beginning Jan. 17.

Clark will still be busy with events in the WNBA’s offseason. Last week, she took part in a pro-am for The Annika LPGA tournament. It was announced Tuesday that she will be the guest speaker for a women’s sports awards luncheon in Kansas City, Missouri, on Feb. 4 at T-Mobile Center. It is one of the largest events in the country celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day.”
