Caitlin Clark Groin Injury Update

Caitlin Clark Groin Injury Update—Out For Wednesday; Uncertainty For All-Star Game

It’s been a tense 12 hours as fans, teammates and the media waited on a Caitlin Clark groin injury update to come from head coach, Stephanie White. On Tuesday evening, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark sustained a groin injury late in the Fever’s 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun. At the time not much was known; but Clark was visibly shaken and seen grabbing the inside of her upper leg.

Caitlin had already missed time this season due to injury; dealing with a left quad and groin issue. However, this time the pain seemed to be stemming from the right side. Indiana’s HC confirmed the injury after the conclusion of the matchup versus the Sun. White mentioned, “(She) just felt a little something in her groin. So, we’ll get it evaluated and see what happens from there.”

Well, flash forward to Wednesday and for most of the day there had been complete silence from the Fever camp. Nothing really regarding Clark’s status for Wednesday’s game or the much anticipated 2025 All-Star Game which for the very first time will feature a 4-point play.

Furthermore, eventually as the day wore on Clark was indeed ruled out for Wednesday’s matchup. But still no intel on the ASG. In an afternoon presser, White once more addressed the media about Clark, stating,

“Being injured and continuing to have setbacks is fustrating. Mentally, emotionally. Often times, being injured is isolating. The primary conversations we’ve had is checking in.

The most important thing for us is to keep her up beat, continue to support her & let her know we got her back and let her know we’re going to go battle for her.”

But besides taking care of Caitlin mentally; how does the team plan to move forward with Clark physically? Will she be resting from games? How serious is this injury to the medical staff? ESPN’s Alexa Phillippou reports,

“Stephanie White said there’s been no discussion beyond tonight’s game about Caitlin Clark’s status moving forward. She says the team is continuing to prioritize her long-term health.

Stephanie White didn’t comment specifically on the results of today’s imaging — deferring to the expertise of the athletic training staff — but did say ‘I consider it good news. For me, anything we’re talking about still day to day is always good news for me.’”

We absolutely hope the best for Caitlin; she has been wonderful to watch grow and truly impress in the league. We want to see her back as soon as possible. BUT only when she is able to return back being fully healed and healthy.
