Caitlin Clark Becomes WNBA Record-Holder for Most Assists in a Single Game

Caitlin Clark Becomes WNBA Record-Holder for Most Assists in a Single Game

She is only a rookie. And in her first year as a professional basketball player; Clark is not only  breaking records; but she is breaking the records she has just broken! Tonight, the mighty Indiana Fever star only continued to show why her fanbase continues to rapidly grow. Caitlin Clark becomes the WNBA record-holder for the most assists in a single game AND sets another franchise record in the process.

The Fever faced off against the Dallas Wings and it was a battle to the end. The Wings ultimately won, but a lot of records were set and personal bests put up. Immediately following the game, Indiana took to social media to herald Clark’s achievements. They state,

“Your new WNBA record holder for most assists in a single game. Caitlin Clark, with 19. It only took her 26 career games.

Caitlin Clark made history tonight with the dynamite double-double at Dallas. [Moreover], Caitlin Clark has broken her own franchise record for most assists in a single game with 14!”

And it gets better. Especially, if you just quickly glance at what Caitlin is doing so far in the month of July. Her July stats are: 20.3 PPG, 6.3 RPG and 12.5 APG. How does that stack up with women’s basketball history? Well, that is the highest APG average for a single month in WNBA history.

Plus with 202 assists for the year so far (we’re at the halfway point of the season). Clark is also now the 4th player in WNBA history to record 200+ REB and 200+ AST in a season. And guess what? She is also the first rookie to do so. Mic drop.

Besides the Fever, the WNBA also excitedly mentioned Clark’s stellar performance against the Wings. They declare,

“Heading into the break that is what we call one heck of a game! The Dallas Wings prevail 101-93 in an absolute thriller, Arike Ogunbowale and Odyssey Sims combined for 48 points.

[But] Caitlin Clark is in a category of her own. With 19 assists in tonight’s game, Clark has set a new record for most assists in a single game in WNBA history. Previously, Courtney Vandersloot held record with 18 assists in a game for the Chicago Sky versus the Indiana Fever in 2020.”

Nice! What Clark is doing is simply amazing. And it is great basketball, but most importantly great for the WNBA’s fans.
