Buffalo Bills Have Traded Stefon Diggs To Houston Texans
Everyone has been saying the 2024 draft class will be a bumper crop for wide receivers. So apparently the Bills have moved on from their veteran wide receiver. The Buffalo Bills have traded Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans as was reported by several outlets today. In addition, the Bills GM Brandon Beane held a press conference to discuss the trade. Ultimately, he said he believed the trade was in the best interests of the team. Along with Diggs, the Texans will receive a 2024 sixth-round pick (No. 189 overall) and a 2025 fifth-rounder. In exchange, the Bills receive a second-round selection in 2025 via Minnesota.
Diggs was traded from Minnesota to Buffalo in 2020 which was the Covid-19 pandemic season. His production was excellent as he was a frequent target of QB Josh Allen. However, when the offensive coordinator position was filled by Joe Brady, Diggs saw his role lessen last season. His playing time was significantly reduced, even during the playoffs. During the offseason there had appeared to be some tension between the team and Diggs. He had skipped the first day of mini-camp but whatever the situation was it had been handled in-house. But with this trade of the receiver I can only wonder if all parties were simply ready to part ways.
This trade is good news for QB C.J. Stroud who had an impressive rookie season in 2023. He will have a top tier receiver to throw to with Diggs now in the mix. He will further add to the offensive fire power the Texans have with receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell along with tight end Dalton Schultz. To say nothing of how the Texans added to the defensive side of the ball.

The Bills have definitely cleaned house this offseason. Letting go of players such as Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White, and Mitch Morse. So we can expect to see a whole new team, much different than the 2023 version. On the other hand the Texans are building their team and look to be in “win now” mode. With all the moves that have been made I can hardly wait to see how both teams perform next season.

Although Diggs has been referred to by some as a “headache” the Texans have to be giddy about this trade. And if he is a “headache” he still may be worth the trouble if he can help them make a deep run in the playoffs next year.
