Buffalo Bills Bullied Miami Dolphins On Thursday Night Football

The Buffalo Bills lost several key defensive players this offseason. And some people questioned if they could keep up with Miami’s high-powered offense. The question was answered as the Buffalo Bills bullied the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football. Miami got the ball first to start the game and right away it was clear that the QB and receivers were not in tune with each other. Tagovailoa threw an interception on the first drive as it appeared that the receiver Grant DuBose wasn’t ready for the ball.

The Bills made them pay for the turnover. During the short drive the Dolphins stuffed them on a third down. But the Bills went for it on 4th and 3. Josh Allen made a short pass to James Cook who caught it and ran it in for the 17-yard touchdown. It looked like Miami had gotten their passing game together on their second possession. And responded with a touchdown of their own. However, on their next possession on the third play Tagovailoa threw another interception. It looked like he was anticipating his receiver to be in certain spot and he wasn’t there.

In the second quarter the Bills were rolling offensively while the Dolphins struggles continued. The Bills defense took away the Dolphins’ high-powered offensive weapons, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. They held them to a combined 65 receiving yards for the game. It only took the Bills one play to score their second touchdown of the second quarter. James Cook took the ball right up the middle to score a 49 yard touchdown, his second of the game. By the end of the half  the Bills were up 24-10.

In the third quarter Tagovailoa threw his third interception of the game. He was picked off by Ja’Marcus Ingram for the second time but this one was returned for a 31-yard touchdown. However, the worst and scariest part of the game was when the Dolphins had 4th and 4 and Tagovailoa scrambled up the middle for 6 yards. But he collided head-first with Buffalo’s Damar Hamlin and went down. It was awhile before he was able to get up and walk off the field under his own power. He was immediately ruled out of the game with a concussion.

Sadly, he has a long history with concussions and some players are saying he should retire. For instance former wide receiver Dez Bryant posted a statement:

“That’s it…. NFL go ahead and do the right thing. Tua has had entirely way too many concussions. He need to retire for his longevity health concerns.”

As of now there is no timeline for his return.
