Browns Shedeur Sanders Throws Two TDs During First NFL Start and Debut
He didn’t go in the first round. Nor the second or the third. It was a shocking day as a well-qualified quarterback slid farther and deeper during the 2025 NFL Draft. However, in time he came to be drafted and now he has put on quite the show during his recent preseason performance. The Browns Shedeur Sanders throws two TDs during his first NFL start and debut; while leading three scoring drives. Racking up 138 yards.
While coaches and analysts (and Nike) were happy with Sanders talent display and playing prowess on the field. Shedeur took a more humble stance on his NFL debut night against the Carolina Panthers after helping helm the Browns to a 30-10 victory. Sanders states,
“Whenever it’s my turn I feel like I’ve got to take advantage of it. I did some good, some bad. I know moving forward I won’t make the same mistakes twice.”
Great response. Therefore, Shedeur is already vowing to do better the next time he gets the ball placed in his hands, and beyond. Which is a modest, yet principled attitude and mindset. Definitely what any organization wants to hear from a guy playing in a leadership position and role.
And it is good to see Sanders being so positive after the very public hoopla of this year’s draft. He never once became bitter. Just focused on his craft and made it clear he wanted to perform well at a professional level like his father; yet still clearly differentiate himself as a player.

Nonetheless, back in the month of May, Shedeur signed a multimillion contract with Cleveland. At the time, the newly drafted QB Shedeur Sanders (Round 5, No. 144 overall) signed a four-year, $4.6 million rookie contract that includes a $447,380 signing bonus, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.
So then, Shedeur is young, driven and paid. While he may not be making first round money; if he keeps executing at a high level the finances will eventually lineup with his athletic aptitude. Plus, the Browns may have found an answer to their offense issues and gotten “the solution” for an absolute steal. It would be nice to see more from Sanders this season; hopefully that is what transpires.
