Broncos Fail To Break Their Losing Streak
Division rivals Broncos and Chiefs met up Thursday night. And the Broncos failed to break their losing streak against the Chiefs. The Broncos defense played hard and kept their team in the game. However, the offense didn’t show up at all. Head coach Sean Payton admitted to making a “bonehead mistake” just before the half. He took a timeout after Wilson was sacked on third down. People wondered if the referees had mistakenly said the Broncos took a timeout. But nope, Payton admitted he lost track of the downs and called for the timeout. It was expected that Payton would come in and fix things for this team. However, that hasn’t happened yet. The Broncos are off to a 1-5 start for the first time since 1994.
Whatever is ailing the offense needs to be fixed immediately. The two teams will meet again in two weeks. So they don’t have much time to get it together. On the other hand, the Chiefs offense didn’t play particularly well. They are doing just enough to win games. But they aren’t a dominating, high-flying offense putting up big points. Their defense played well against the Broncos. For Russell Wilson they were a nightmare he couldn’t wake up from. The red zone was a big problem for the chiefs as indicated by the 19 points they scored. Also, head coach Andy Reid’s play calling was debatable. He may have been trying to jump start his team, get them fired up. It didn’t work.
Here’s hoping that both teams clean up their operations. I’d like to see a much more competitive showing in week 8.

In other NFL news, QB Deshaun Watson has been ruled out for the Browns. He is still dealing with a rotator cuff injury. The New York Giants will also be without QB Daniel Jones. He suffered a neck injury against the Dolphins. However, the Giants are facing the Buffalo Bills. And former Bills QB, Tyrod Taylor, will be filling in for Jones. We’ll see if Taylor can get some payback against his former team. The Ravens and Titans will duke it out in England this week. Sorry west coast folks but you’ll have to get up at 6:30a.m. to see it.
I’m looking forward to the Lions @ Buccaneers. The Lions are on a roll but the Buccaneers are a scrappy team. Can the number 2 Buccaneers defense take down the number 6 Lions offense? After suffering two blowout losses back to back can the Patriots win against the Raiders? We’ll get the answers on Sunday. In the meantime, the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers are on a Bye this week.
