Broncos and Quinn Meinerz Agree to Four-Year $80 Million Extension

Broncos and Quinn Meinerz Agree to Four-Year $80 Million Extension

Denver is backing up the Brinks truck yet again. They are rewarding a guy who has proven to be one of the best guards in football. Yes, the Broncos and Quinn Meinerz agree to a four-year $80 million extension to help keep strength on the offensive line.

Football insider for NFL.com, Ian Rapoport, confirms the Meinerz extension. Rapoport reports,

“The Belly breaks the bank:

The Denver Broncos and standout G Quinn Meinerz have agreed to terms on a massive 4-year, $80M deal, per me and Mike Garafolo, making him one of the highest paid guards in the NFL. The extension includes $45M guaranteed.

At last, the Belly can breathe.”

Meinerz is also an athlete with a background story any sports fan can love. A hard worker who had a very peculiar workout that helped him stay fit “at safe distance” and get to the pros. Plus, he made the most out of an opportunity. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo briefly mentions Quinn’s ‘working towards the NFL’ account; as well as a little more details regarding his extension. He states,

“Broncos Guard Quinn Meinerz has agreed to terms on a four-year, $80 million extension, sources tell me and Rap Sheet.

‘The Belly’ gets $24m in the first year of the deal. The 2021 3rd-rounder from D-III Wisconsin-Whitewater, who flew up draft boards, is now a top-5 paid guard.

Quinn Meinerz didn’t have a senior year at Wisconsin-Whitewater because of COVID. Worked out in the woods. Was a late add to the Senior Bowl. Crushed it there. Became a Day 2 pick. Now, very rich.”

Exactly. Rich and successful. Without a senior year at his DIII school, Quinn Meinerz got a Senior Bowl invite only because Landon Dickerson got injured in the national title game.

He turned that into being a third-round pick. And the rest is history. Last year, the Denver Broncos finished 8-9 in 2023; and they are aiming to improve upon those efforts.

There was some friction between Coach Sean Payton and Quarterback Russell Wilson. However, things have been smoothed out for both parties. Wilson is now on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Payton gets to work with another QB of his choice. A job that will be competed for between three guys: Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson and Bo Nix. Nix was the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

But regardless who eventually gets the job. They can take comfort in knowing there’s an O-line with experience behind them. One being “The Belly,” Quinn Meinerz.
