Boston Celtics Win Their 18th Championship Defeating the Mavs!

The Mavs were able to prevent a sweep. However, they were unable to prevent the inevitable. In Game 5 the Boston Celtics win their 18th Championship defeating the Mavs 88-106. Making Boston the official king of the NBA titles.

You see, before winning game 5, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers each had won 17 titles. However, now with tonight’s championship win, Boston has now broke that tie. The Celtics now have bragging rights over all other NBA franchises.

However, how did the Celtics get it done? Well, in the first quarter, Dallas kept it close. Up until about 1:40 to go before the 2nd quarter. Then the Celtics began to pull away.

In the second quarter, Boston only increases the lead. Dallas is able to get within 8 and 11 points, but cannot get any closer to tying things up. And both teams go into halftime after a DAGGER by Payton Pritchard. Pritchard ends the 2nd by making a 3-point jump shot from 50 feet out right at the buzzer.

Things in the second half don’t really change. The Dallas Mavericks stay way behind. And the Boston Celtics keep piling it on and gaining even more of a lead.

Boston is efficient on both sides of the ball. Playing with excellent defense, rebounding, assists and making shots at close range and from deep. Jaylen Brown, Tatum, Holiday and White are all impressive. Unfortunately, for the Mavericks, it was a much different story.

Some of the blocks the Celtics did on the Mavs players were just nasty. The domination was fierce. Several plays were worthy of being part of a recap highlights reel.

Nonetheless, with 40 seconds left to go in the game, cameras catch Jayson Tatum breaking down in tears. So much emotion on the court. It was clear the win was close, all the hard work, sweat and tears was about to pay off. His first title and ring is nearing.

Then, the moment came. The confetti fell. Family, friends, coaches and players fill the court. Jayson Tatum picks up his son in a warm embrace and hugs him tight. The Boston Celtics are the 2024 NBA Champions.

Congratulations on a historic run, and to the city of Boston. Gentlemen you are joining the company of Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and many others. Hold that trophy high.
