Bills Outlasted The Jets On Monday Night Football
It was a real battle between the New York state teams. Or to put it another way a duel between two gunslingers, Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers. But ultimately it was the Buffalo Bills who outlasted the New York Jets on Monday Night Football. The Jets got the ball first and scored on their opening drive for the first time this season with a 34-yard field goal.
The Bills took to the field and ran the ball like crazy. Ty Johnson and Ray Davis picked up double digit yards multiple times during the drive. They were breaking tackles as they rushed for 61 yards on the drive. And Josh Allen capped it off with a 1-yard touchdown run. But Aaron Rodgers was effective with the passing game tossing a couple of 20+ yards passes. He finished the drive with a throw to Garrett Wilson for the 5-yard touchdown.
They traded punts after that and then the Bills started their next drive on their 10-yard line. The Jets got pressure on Allen and he was forced to run, going into the end zone. It looked as if the Jets were about to get a safety but Allen somehow slipped past the defenders and chucked a 42-yard bomb to Ray Davis. The Bills eventually scored a touchdown but the extra point attempt was missed.
Rodgers took a couple of sacks in the first half but was still able to lead the Jets to a touchdown before the half. There were 21 seconds left on the clock giving him just enough time to complete two passes. He was then in position to heave a Hail Mary pass to the end zone with 8 seconds on the clock. Surrounded by bills defender Allen Lazard caught it for the 52-yard touchdown.

The second half featured less offense and more defense. It mostly felt like flags were being thrown on every play. Per commentator Joe Buck, during the broadcast, there were over 200 penalty yards in the game. That’s the most penalty yardage this season. In my opinion, quite a few of the calls were questionable for both teams.
The Bills missed a field goal in the 3rd quarter but the Jets made one to tie the score at 20. When the Jets had a chance to take the lead they missed a 32-yard attempt that hit the left upright. Then missed a 43-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Thereafter, the Bills took the lead with a 22-yard field goal. With under 2 minutes to go Rodgers threw an interception. Thus the Bills took a knee and won the game 23-20.
