Bills Bounced Back With A Thursday Night Victory
The first quarter was all Buffalo. The Bills bounced back with a Thursday night victory over the Buccaneers.They moved fluidly down the field on their first possession. But the Buccaneers’ defense held the line and the Bills settled for the field goal. On their third possession they again moved swiftly down the field and came away with the touchdown. Meanwhile the Buccaneers offense couldn’t get in a rhythm but did get into field goal range. However, the 50 yard attempt was deflected just enough for it to fall short of the goal post.
In the second quarter the Buccaneers generated some momentum and scored a field goal. They followed that up with a touchdown to tie the game at 10-10. However, the Bills were still in a good groove and with a short field scored another touchdown. Again the Buccaneers offense was clunky and had difficulty moving the ball. Baker Mayfield was sacked which killed the drive. They tried to pretend that they were going to kick a 59 yard field goal. The Bills said, “Yeah right,” not falling for the ploy.
Having to fill Tom Brady’s shoes is a tough task. Yet Buccaneer players described Baker as having swagger and being a leader. I believe they truly feel that way about him. Yet tonight he seemed hesitant and unable to make quick decisions with the football. However, that is probably because the Bills defense gave him a hard way to go all night.
Bills Bounced Back With A Thursday Night Victory
The Bills defense has been decimated with injuries yet they were impressive. Also, DaQuan Jones and Matt Milano are out indefinitely and both will require surgery. As for the Buccaneers defense they have to be better in coverage. However, they do tighten up in the red zone, often not allowing touchdowns.
Baker Mayfield had a sick touchdown pass to Evans with 2:44 to go in the fourth quarter. He found Otton in the end zone for the 2 point conversion. On the final hail Mary pass he got the ball to the end zone. But it looked as if nobody tried to catch it. Not sure what happened but still it was a great throw.
The Bills played up to their preseason expectations. But the Buccaneers have fight. I hope they can get it together because they are a fun team to watch.
