Bears Versus Panthers Week 10: Monsters Of the Midway Got the Victory On Thursday Night
There hasn’t been much to cheer about for the Chicago Bears. But the Monsters of the Midway got the victory on Thursday night football during the Bears versus Panthers Week 10 matchup. Coming into the game the Panthers had the 30th ranked offense. After tonight they’ll probably be 32nd. On the other hand, the Panthers 5th ranked defense contained the Bears 14th ranked offense. Bears backup QB Tyson Bagent garnered some redemption after throwing three interceptions last week. He didn’t fumble the ball or throw any interceptions. He orchestrated a nice drive before the close of the first half culminating in a field goal.
Although they only scored field goals in the first half they kept the game close with the score being 10-9 at the half. They finally scored the only offensive touchdown in the game in the third quarter. Starting at the Panthers’ 38 yard line they mixed a couple of passes with several runs. D’Onta Foreman ran the ball 4 yards for the scoring touchdown and the lead. Opening the fourth quarter the Panthers tried to take back the lead. With good starting field position at their 40 yard line they immediately got a 10 yard offensive pass interference. After that hiccup Bryce Young connected on a few nice passes to move the ball. But the drive stalled at the 20 yard line and the Panthers settled for the field goal.
On the Panthers’ second and last possession of the fourth quarter they couldn’t sustain an efficient drive. The offensive play was inconsistent. Young was sacked but then completed three passes in a row. Then followed them up with three incompletions. At the 40 yard line with 1:40 left on the clock the kicker Pineiro attempted a 59 yard field goal that was no good. Thus the Bears got the 13-16 victory.
Monsters Of the Midway Got the Victory On Thursday Night- Bears Versus Panthers Week 10
This wasn’t the worse game I’ve ever seen but it wasn’t fun to watch either. However, I do feel a little sorry for Bryce Young. He’s in a tough situation. As Kirk Herbstreit pointed out last night, his best target is 33 year old veteran Adam Thielen. He’s a good receiver but the Panthers need more help at that position. They have no run game and the offensive line is in shambles. And some are questioning the coaching ability of Frank Reich suggesting his offensive strategy may be behind the times.
At any rate, both teams need improvement. How they go about doing that or if they make any improvements will remain to be seen. The good news is we have more games on Sunday to watch. The NFL will be back in Germany with the Colts vs the Patriots. See you there!
