Baltimore Ravens Tight End Mark Andrews Heroically Helps to Save Woman on Southwest Flight

Not every hero wears capes. But some guys really earn them. Today, we’re sharing the story in how Baltimore Ravens Tight End Mark Andrews heroically helps to save a  woman on Southwest Flight.

A lot of fast-action decision making went down. But if anyone can handle pressure; it’s a sports athlete. Nevertheless, despite his own efforts in the tense situation, Andrews wants no accolades. Regarding the incidence Mark says in a personal statement,

“In addition to fast acting flight attendants, the real heroes are the nurse and doctor who also happened to be on the plane. Thankfully they were able to provide the woman the quick assistance she needed.”

So modest. A real class act. However, if you’re feeling this story can’t be true… don’t. It is. The Baltimore Ravens confirmed the details on their official website. They state,

“Mark Andrews has always been a clutch player. He took that to another level days after the Ravens’ season ended.

The tight end was heading home to the Phoenix area on a Southwest flight Monday morning when a passenger had a mid-flight medical emergency. According to another passenger on the plane, she was having trouble breathing and a weak pulse.

The Ravens tight end, who has Type 1 diabetes, popped up and suggested that it could be a blood sugar problem. Andrews gave them his diabetic testing kit and the woman’s heart rate stabilized.

The story was shared by another passenger on the plane and confirmed by Andrews.”

Yes, someone slightly begs to differ and says Andrews IS in fact a hero as well. A man who was also on the flight. Read his account below.

Proud Baltimore native and fan, Andrew Springs, recounts the story. He relates via platform, X,

“A woman on my Southwest flight from Baltimore to Phoenix this morning had a mid-flight medical emergency. The doctor and nurse attending to her couldn’t find a strong pulse, her blood pressure was extremely low, and required oxygen to breathe. It was genuinely scary.

A man in the aisle seat popped up, “Could it be her blood sugar? I have a diabetic testing kit.”

It was Ravens TE Mark Andrews.

Andrews instructed the medical professionals (equal citizen heroes in this story) on using his test kit. Eventually her heart-rate stabilized.

Paramedics met the flight as soon as we landed. Andrews deplaned quietly. No fanfare. As he has done his whole career, he stepped up in a huge moment when people needed him most.

Watching complete strangers spring into action to help save someone’s life is truly amazing.”

Wow. Crazy thing is… if the Ravens win the Championship game, Andrews is probably not on this flight. Always so interesting how life goes sometimes. Nevertheless, major hats off to heroics of the doctor, nurse; flight attendants and the ever so humble, Mark Andrews.
